| USPS postage stamps increase On May 12, the price of stamps in the US will go up a penny. Beginning May 12, consumers will pay 42 cents to mail a letter first-class. The last time postage rates were raised was in May 2007, when first-class stamps jumped 2 cents to the current 41-cent rate. http://money.aol.com/news/articles/_...00010000000001 Now is the time for all good people to go get the FOREVER stamp at 41¢. And if you are still using 39¢ stamps and adding 2¢ stamps, you will need to get 1¢ stamps to get to the new 42¢ price. Under the new law, postal prices will be adjusted annually each May, the Postal Service said. Officials said they plan to give 90 days notice of future changes, twice what is required by law. While the charge for the first ounce of a first-class letter rises to 42 cents, the price of each added ounce will remain 17 cents, so a two-ounce letter will go up a penny to 59 cents. The cost to mail a post card will also go up a penny, to 27 cents Other increases set for May 12: Large envelope, 2 ounces, $1, up 3 cents. Money Orders up to $500, $1.05, unchanged. Certified mail, $2.70, up 5 cents. First-class international letter to Canada or Mexico, 72 cents, up 3 cents. Changes in the price for Priority Mail and Express Mail will be announced later, the agency said.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I have a few of the forever stamps but still can't believe they're raising it AGAIN - I think when our country raises all our basic needs - food - gas - utilities and postage WE Should get pay increases to compensate - the average person is just getting slammed now with the high prices of everything |

| I have started paying my bills online to save the cost of postage....I really hate to do this due to security issues but I also hate having to spend $20.00 a month mailing bills that are already outrageous... We also found out yesterday that our gas and electric is going to go up again...for the second time this winter...boy oh boy...how is a person suppose to get ahead in times like this.... |

| darn.....this stinks really bad. I don't have to mail my wedding invites until the end of May. If only the forever stamps came in a wedding design! Then I would be all set.

Neat way for the USPS to get money up front. My luck I'd buy a bunch and then forget where I put them.

| I use probably 2 stamps a year, as I noticed years ago, the more the stamps went up , the crappier service seemed to be(took mom 3 years to get a get well card)..I pay all my bills online, and even do the paperless statements..I had a late fee years ago on the water bill, I mailed it from town 2 weeks early..after the water co. charged the late fee and finally got the check, I told them to check the date on it to see I mailed it when I said..I was correct, but, it didn't matter, because it was late, they still charged me..good old US postal service |

| The forever stamp, if you get it before the date it goes up, will be 41, but, once it goes up to .42 cents, that's what you'll have to pay for them after that date...you pay for them, whatever the price of stamps are at the time you buy them |
