| Well, I'm having weight loss surgery! I've posted before and have gone back and forth with this decision, but after a lot of research and pm's to a member here who's had it, I'm having the surgery 3/12/08. I'm excited, and scared - but I feel it's the best way for me. I've lost and gained weight all my life ( 2 or 3 people at least ) but I always gain it back and then some. My husband was a tall, big boned man - and was morbidly obese. He died at 49 from a massive heart attack. I've decided I don't want to die that way. I've been afraid since he died that the same thing would happen to me and I just can't let that happen. I want to have grandchildren and be a grandma. I want to watch them be born and grow up. I have to do something to help myself, so I'm having the RNY.

| It's the abbreviation for the gastric bypass surgery. I don't mind you asking at all. You can type rny.com in the address area of your computer and the surgery will come up.

| Good for you and BEST of luck! I think you are making a wise decision for yourself and your health. Remember the surgery helps with the initial loss, but you need to change your lifestyle in order to keep it off. I had a friend who had the surgery, her whole family is morbidly obese. About 2 years after the surgery, she is back to being morbidly obese bc she never did anything to change the way she ate, or started working out, nothing. I think you are brave and very proactive

THE VERY BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ~~!!! My friend wants that surgery so bad and they turned her down (insurance) - I don't think it's right to decline something like this when it can save someones life. I'm so happy for you - I think if you feel this is for you then GO FOR IT !!! PLEASE keep us posted and I'm here if you need to talk ~ what happened to your husband (hugs) is NOT going to happen to you. | |
