| Credit Report/Score Question?? Ok we are paying off 2 credit cards and another loan acct that we have in the next 2-3 months. How long will it take for it to reflect our credit scores or if we were to pull our credit report it will show a ZERO balance. We have excellent credit but I was just curious because I know we are going to buy a SUV and when they pull our credit I want it to be a accurate account. I remember when we had purchased our home, and they had to pull a credit report and I had paid on some accts but it didn't reflect and I was like WAIT this acct should be less than what its showing. So does anyone know approx. how long it will take once you pay off an acct. to show on a credit report.

| yes...at least 3 months. i learned alot when we purchased our house. This guy i know does these improved your credit score things to get better rates. ( he wrote a book about it) well everytime you open up a credit card account it actually counts against you. and if you buy a anything new, it counts against your scores for the first 6 months. If you have your credit cards more than 60 % maxed out it counts against u. He says that if you have one cc that is 80% maxed out the the other is only 40% maxed that you should transfer from one to the other so it says below the 60%. We don't have credit cards, cause hubby makes us pay cash for everything, cause he knows how much i love to shop, so for us this is what works. everytime you have an inquire on you report it takes off points too. If you have something on your credit report thats not right or has been on something that has been there for a long time, you can actually write the agency and if they do not respond within 30 days, it is desputed and taken off. we had good credit, but he did some of this little stuff to ours and increased my score by 60 points and hubbys by 43 points which saved us thousand of dollars in interest. | In Florida we get one free credit report a year. I am not sure about where you live. You can purchase all three for about 30 bucks online and have instant results. The report explains why you have the score you do and what you need to do to raise it. I just happened to be looking at mine and saw capital one had made a mistake on my report and it took about 2 months for everything to resolve and my score to come back up. Their mistake dropped me 150 points!!!!!! They wrote a letter on my behalf to all the bureaus telling them it was their mistake and it still took 2 months. Like someone else said not everyone reports every month...so it could take you longer. if you have never bought your own report you should buy it online and check at least yearly to make sure no one is using your info (identity theft). Also knowing you have a good score gives you buying power to negotiate. My husband manages a car dealership and used to be a finance manager so he has taught me a lot over the years!! Good luck |

| You can go to annualcreditreport.com for the offical one. It gives you the 3 reports for free once a year but not your actual score. The other sites (freecreditreport.com, etc.) give you like a week free and then you have to cancel or they charge you. |
