| What do you think of this? Continuing my SuperBowl Sunday ramblings...... I don't know if many of you remember how we happen to get Rusty (our yellow lab)....we got him over a year ago, so many may not remember that story. Recap: our closest neighbors (we live WAY out in the woods, so not many neighbors) who we had never met, had Rusty, who kept coming over here. At first, he would just growl and bark and that was it, then he would play and then he would never go home. The neighbors would come and get him (dragging him to their truck by his ear, etc) When we chatted w/ them, we found out they had just had twins and Rusty was moved outside (had always been an inside dog)...and of course, he was just left outside, never played w/. So, of course he loved it over here. After months of them coming to get him, they brought over his food, etc and said that he was ours because they were just going to "drop him off somewhere" and we didn't want that. Fast forward to now: they have never wanted him back or anything (it's been over a year), but the last few months, the lady will pull into our driveway or walk to our driveway and stop right before the tree line ends (I guess thinking that we can't see her) and play w/ Rusty. At first, we didn't know what the heck she was doing. But it aggravated us because all the dogs (even the little ones) would go crazy barking because she would be standing up there. She has even walked thru the winds. So, one day I asked if they were wanting Rusty back...and she said "no"...I didn't say anything about seeing her. Then another time, she mentioned that she wanted a dog, but she couldn't have one, etc. But I didn't offer her Rusty because, well, he is our dog, has been for over a year! ----am I wrong? Besides, they were soooo many to him....I mean, he hated men when he first came over here and would cringe when we would try to pat his head, etc. Well, yesterday, she did the same thing...I was outside w/ the little dogs (off leash) and I seen her pull up (we have a very long driveway)...the big dogs go crazy and run up there (they make sure we know someone is here)...so I walk up there w/ both little dogs in my arms and ask if she would stop doing that because ALL the dogs go crazy barking and stuff and it was just really freaky when she just sits in our driveway. I mean, one day we looked out the window (the big dogs were in the house) and she was standing in the driveway right were the tree line ends, just looking at our house! WEIRDO!! Anyway, I was nice and didn't raise my voice or anything....but come on...that is just plan crazy! What do you think? Did I do the right thing??

| Yes, I think you did the right thing. It sounds really weird. From what you said they didn't treat him very well anyway. I hope you have some documentation like vet records to prove he is your dog now, just in case she tries to take him back. I wouldn't let her, he is happy with you.

| The big dogs are pretty much free to roam when they are out and she said that Rusty only comes over there to poo! A few times, she will either take him or he will follow her back if she is walking, but he is back over here w/in a few minutes. I don't think they will ever take him back because they won't keep him in the house, nor have time for him, nor the money to take care of him...so I am really not too worried. I just thought it was pretty weird (as my daughter says "freaky") and scary that she would just stand or pull into our drive and just sit there w/o coming down to the house.....just crazy! We will see if she does it again! I hope they move away!

| You are nicer than me, Jenn! I'd probably call the police on her (each and every time).

| Well, it took me FOREVER to even decide to catch her up there one day...and she just happened to catch me when I wasn't feeling to well, but I was nice, but I just had HAD IT at the time....the dogs going crazy, worrying about Rusty, etc.....I mean the whole conversation was like two sentences. But I made sure she realized that it was annoying and freaky! It actually scared my daughter...she would go and call in the big dogs and lock the door when she could.

| Jenn I remember your story.... It sounds like this woman is lonely or maybe a little loopy or something. I wouldn't like any one doing this. It would be different if she wanted to be friends with you and knocked on your door to see if you wanted to come for coffee or something.... It makes sense that she is driving all the dogs crazy so you would rather she not do this any more. She must realize it looks weird. You sound like such a sweet heart. I'm sure you were very nice about it. See if she does it any more...

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I was just thinking of Rusty a little while ago and I was wondering how he was doing! That is sooo weird about the lady. But you did the right thing. He is YOUR dog and you took care of him and made him trust and love people. They told you you could have him. I agree with someone else, go get documentation ASAP saying he is your dog, so that she can't pull any (***TOUCHDOWN GIANTS***) funny stuff. I think she may not be "all there." I hate to even suggest this, but is it possible that her hubby is abusive?

| It sounds like she knows they can't take him (and maybe husband was abusive to him and she doesn't want that), but sometimes she just misses him and wants to see him. Completely understandable, but it would definitely be much better if she had called and asked to come over and see him, not get everybody fur and skin freaked out at your house.

Yes, that is what I was thinking, particularly b/c of him being frightened by men.

| Oh there is no doubt that he was very mistreated over there....we had seen it before. I remember once, I took Rusty back to their house (before they said he was ours) and the lady came out to get him, he cowered in the corner of the truck and would not come out...she grabbed him by his ears and pulled him out of the truck. I was so upset and sickened...I was sick all that night worrying about him and told DH that I would never take him over there again. So, when they started to come and get him, they got tired of it. DH told them that Rusty was fine here and that was when they said they were just going to drop him off somewhere because he just wouldn't stay home....well of course he doesn't, he was just shut outside after being inside for so long with no comfy place to sleep, no one to play with, etc. Anyway, DH had told them that they couldn't do that, that he was fine here. The guy isn't abusive to her or the kids....they are just both "odd". We got to know them (a little too much) after all of this with Rusty. We met her family and they are all a little "off". We started to slowly avoid them and their calls because they were just weird. I mean, they would call and say, well you came home late last night or you went to bed early last night...etc....you can't even see their house from ours, but I guess, when we drive (their house is before ours) they can see our head lights and in the winter, you can see thru the woods and they have no yard light, so I am sure they see our house lights...it is just FREAKY! And I won't even go into some of the other stuff here...but my goodness, it really creeps us out! Definitely if she would call and say that her and the kids would like to see Rusty, that would be fine...come on down..they have been over to our house numerous times before. But to just stand in the driveway....and wait for the dogs to go up there.... A gate...I am wanting one...shoot...I am wanting a ten foot security fence around all 30 some acres!!

Sounds like she was abusive, too. The phone calls like that (above) would really freak me out, too!! How creepy!
