All i know is i want a car that works good, has no problems and looks decent. I am looking to spend from $1000 to maybe $4000. I am saving up. Anyone have any tips, websites i can look at. I have no clue what im doing, it will be my first car! And it will be for me and my furbabies So it has to have seatbelts in the back for their carseats

| I would look at www.autotrader.com. Maybe look into an older honda accord or civic. Hondas last forever are very reliable!

| www.consumerreports.org is an awesome site..I think it costs $5 to view all the info on used cars, but it was worth it to me when I did it. They tell you about recalls that any of the cars may have had, how each car rated on all kinds of tests, etc. Side note: Toyota and Honda are extremely good cars. They last forever!!

| http://www.iihs.org/ This site if the Institute for Hwy Safety. It has a link for vehicle ratings. When my kids were looking at cars, our Insurance agent told us to go this site and look up the safety ratings. Good Place to start. Make sure before you buy a car you buy the carfax report, it will let you know if car has been in an accident. Good Luck & Have Fun Looking!

| I would look into older honda and toyotas which according to consumer reports are very reliable cars and they last forever....also maintenance costs for them are not really high. I have a toyota and purchased it becuase it was the best according to the consumer reports on gas mileage and reliablity.

| how great! A car. Take your mom, dad, brother or boyfriend with you and go look at used cars from a reputable dealer. They will give you a warranty and all. I do not know much about buying a car on the Internet, I really believe you should do that in person. If you have a good credit rating, you will have no trouble getting a loan. Make sure you get a car with good safety features first and foremost. And as far as I know, all cars have seat belts in the back seat. Also - for your own benefit - try to get a car with good gas mileage per gallon. The price of gasoline is not going down anytime soon. Have you thought about where you will park the car, since you live in Manhattan? Oh, and insurance is higher there also. Please take all this into consideration before you make this decision. Cars are high maintenance and they do not give Yorkie Kisses. Good luck. here are some doggie cars ...

| How you checked to see how much monthly parking is? I have a feeling it's . ETA: Oops, I noticed someone else already asked that question.

Donating YT 11K Club Member | YAY! Thanks so much guys! You guys gave me a lot of good tips and websites My mom has a honda i believe. She got it for $1000 used and it works good. However i don't see any seatbelts in the back seats but mostly it's just her anyway or when she gives me a ride somewhere.

| I was going to suggest a Toyota, Honda Civic, Nissan Ultima or a Mitsubishi for durability. A Saturn, a Neon, or a Focus for cost efficiency. Maybe even a Mazda??? Even if you get a 5-6+ year old Honda or Toyota, you will be getting a great car. I do not know what 4K can get you these days. However, you may want to finance the rest. I know in 2003, I gave my daughter 5K as a down payment and she got a Mitsubishi Gallant with a 5 year NO interest payments deal. Her first car was a 1988 NOVA. So she was thrilled when she had a job and could get what she really liked. All safety features available and then the luxury items, electric windows, brakes etc, sun roof, tinted windows, remote door opener, detailing, things I would not consider. AM/FM/cd player/XFM radio -(is that satellite??) I got her a portable navigator as a gift. Even if you get a cheap one on eBay (and there are some for less the 250$), get one, so you never get lost. I got her the Garmin 7350, but the smaller Garmin would have sufficed (I am talking about 4½ years ago when they were 800$) as I said before ... GQQD LUCK!!! do not go alone! I never thought a sun roof was a necessity. sorry so long.
