| Tough Decision to make????? I am pregnant and due in July. I am also in the military. I have been given the opportunity to get out early due to medical since I am pregnant. That would give me 11 years in. I planned on getting out at 12, when my second enlistment was up. I am really ready to get out, especially with having a baby. I don't think I would handle it that well if I got called up and had to leave a child at home for who knows how long. That would be a risk or sacrifice I would have to take. I have only been deployed at few times that I was not given an option as to whether I was going or not. Never know when we will be called. A lot of times, I feel like I am just burnt out and don't want to do it anymore. On the other side, since I have so many years in should I tough it out and get the pension and insurance when I am older. I don't know what to do. It is a very tough decision to make. My husband is not military.

| How does your husband feel about it? I think it's a decision the two of you should make together.

So, do you get pension at 12 years? And by the time you have the baby, is it correct you would only have about 6 more months of service? Think about that carefully! I wish you the best of luck with your decision

| Im a military wife. Ive babysat ALOT of active duty female soliders kids along the years and I always thought how sad for the families. The Mom is the most important person in a babies life and the military doesnt allow Moms much family time. If you only have 6 more months on your contract and were already plannong to get out Id take the early out. You get 6 months unemployment and you could use that time to bond with your baby and decide what best for your family. But I have to admit Im a little biased, I stayed home with my kids when they were new and I think it so sad to miss out on that time. |

| Well, as an active duty mom, that has been deployed numerous times and been places that I don't care to return to...I am getting out. I know that there is a lot of benifits for me should I stay in, but, I just can't keep leaving my family. I am in the Navy and my husband was a Marine. I met him before I ever joined, we got married shortly after I finished my A-school. My kids, husband and family (puppies included) are my life! I only have 6 years in, but talk to your legal and look at the options that you have. Will they still cover the hospital charges for the birth if you get out now? I know some ways they write things you are not entitled to that, and others will get it covered since it is a "pre-existing medical condition". It all depends on the command and how they discharge you. I would really look into it. Also, will they give you any severance pay? There are a lot of things to look at. Please feel free to PM me if you want and I would be more than happy to help you out as best as I can. Best of luck in your decisions and CONGRATS on the new baby!
