| I Really want to cry i am on the verge of tears right now i am so upset.... I register for classes tomarrow, and i had my schedule all worked out and they CANCELED one of my classes!!!! I only have three classes left to take before i can graduate, so there isnt a lot of other choices to make instead. I have been on the phone and the computer ALL DAY trying to get someone to help me and i keep getting referred to other people, FINALLY i get on the phone with some woman who makes the "almost" final decisions and she was sooooooo mean (i woudl say she was a b!tch but i dont want to offend the female doggies in this forum).... she treated me like crap, she was huffing and puffing and wouldnt listen to what i had to say, she was contradicting me about stuff i know better than she does and when i asked her about reinstating the class she told me "there are still seats open at main campus and at the campus you want, just at different times" ARE YOU NOT HEARING ME LADY???!!!!! I HAVE ARTHRITUS AND CANNOT DRIVE FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUITS (which means that main campus is out of the equation ) AND I WORK DURING THE HOURS THAT CLASS IS OFFERED... (i told her that and she wasnt to happy) she said "since the classes you want are still available the most you can do is call the english department and i doubt you will get the results you are looking for"........... i really wanted to cry, what am i going to do????? i am so upset, she was soooooooooooooooooooo mean and she was totally not cutting me any slack, she wasnt even listening to me half the time....... anyways, i just needed to vent today is just a BAD day |

| Try talking to the professor who is teaching one of the classes that are at the time that you work and seeing if you can do an "independent study" or audit the class for credit. That happened to a friend on mine, and they just worked out something with the other professor. I hate college sometimes...I'm 23 years old and I can't get the financial aid that I need to pay for college because I have to claim my parent's income as my own! I haven't lived at home in 5 years! So I feel you completely. Ever need a place to vent about college, and I'm here. I feel like I've been there 1000 times.

| Wow she was a b*tch ! That was very rude of her. You should have asked for a supervisior or something. Thats what I would have done. My mom had the same problem. She has arthritus in her hand and she is trying to get her Master's. But she has to wait until the semster until she can get the classes that she needs. Well I hope everything works out for you.

| Yep, I'd go straight to the professor. Sometimes they can provide the class online. If he sees that you really are a serious student he should be willing to help. Try to get some rest. Things will look better in the morning. Sorry you had a bad day.

| after talking it over with my fiance we have decided that i should just take the 4 o clock class at the main campus and i should just talk to my boss about coming in early on those days (or staying late another day) so that i can get out of work early to make it to class.......... i will talk to the professor and see if there is some arrangement we can make (like coming every other week or keeping up on e-mail correspondance ) i dunno....... anyways, thanks for all the support i really needed it (my fiance wasnt being that sympathetic at first) and after talking it over with my mom she was the one that calmed me down the most (gotta love those moms huh????)...... anyways, i also posted another thread that i passed my CBEST so i didnt have THAT bad of a day after all...... everything will be workable it just requires more flexibility on my part |

| College isn't just about the classes! In life, we face obstacles that we have to figure out how to overcome in order to reach our goal. College helps us learn how to deal and overcome! Kudos to you! You will work it out and one day you won't even remember it - except for the memory of the one person who could have helped but wouldn't! Just make up your mind never to be like her! Thanks for the 'mom' thing, I'm a mom with a grown son and I never cease to be pleased whenever someone gives a mom a pat on the back!

| I know exactly what you are going through. I had to take a class this summer and cut out 15 hours of work. Luckily, my boss realizes that my school comes first and foremost. I think you got some good advice. Maybe instead of messing up your work schedule you should go to the first day of classes and talk to the professor. Many are very good about letting people who are about to graduate practically get away with murder. I know my school is like that since our 4-year graduation rate is relatively low and they want to get us outta there I have a feeling the prof will let you work an Independent study thing out. Its not like you're a freshman who has no idea about college work.
