| Country/John Deere wedding theme HELP!! I am designing the flowers for two of my friends' weddings. One is going for a country western theme...haybales, rope, barbed wire, horses, the whole bit and the other is a John Deere theme...yellow and green everywhere! I thought I would post on here and see if any of you had either of these as your wedding theme or if any of you have any ideas or suggestions for me. Here's some pictures of what I'm thinking for the John Deere wedding... 1) The bride's bouquet- Either yellow spider mums or yellow gerbera daisies, solidago, leucadendron, yellow roses, and daisy poms that look like little sunflowers. The stems would be wrapped in yellow or green ribbon. The maid of honors bouquet will be very similar, just smaller. 2) The bridesmaid bouquets- Either all yellow gerbera daisies, all white gerbera daisies or a combo of the two colors. The stem would be wrapped in yellow with green accents. 3) Corsages/boutineers- The picture is what the bouts would look like except the gerbera would be a bright yellow. Corsages would be similar with 2 gerberas. 4) Table centerpieces- Jars wrapped with stems and tied with raffia. Arrangements would be similar flowers to what is in bridal bouquets. The tables would have white table cloth with a green ribbon or runner down center of table. The arrangment would sit on that with small John Deere toys scattered around. Please let me know what you think...good or bad! I can take it The brides are letting me do whatever I want so all help is appreciated!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I think they're all really pretty! Very "harvest season-y" and autumn-like, it that's what you're going for. My faves are always very monochromatic - like all yellow, with 1 other color in the very middle - or something like that. Like, you could do all orange-ish with 1 or 2 yellow right in the middle. I've always thought the more monochrome and the least amount of TYPES of flowers results in really featuring the flower itself and making the whole arrangement more sculptural.

| Thanks everybody! I think I feel pretty confident about the John Deere wedding (cool theme, huh?). I'm still unsure about the country wedding though. Flower wise, I might be okay but I have no idea about other decorations. Any suggestions you have will be appreciated!

| Those arrangements are great...I love those last two...and they all seem like they could go w/ both wedding themes. For the country...you can always do arrangements in cowboy boots or antique bottles/jars w/ barbwire/ropes around them, etc. Wagon wheels, spurs and old wooden stir-ups would be nice too! And those wooden barrells...or half barrels...would look nice w/ big flowing flowers/vines on/in them! I seen a country wedding once in a magazine and they had old bottles/mason jars full of flowers and candles...everywhere...some hanging from trees, etc. The colors were more of a wildflower type selection...something that you would find in nature. As for the John Deere....I think that one would be harder...as I have no clue. But what you have, looks good. Isn't there such a thing as too much of the same thing?? You know...too much yellow and green?? I don't know? Are you doing the decorations too or just the flowers?

Donating YT 10K Club Member | What comes to my mind when you say western theme...that I didn't see mentioned in your list...cowboy boots, hats, horse shoes. I also think of red/white gingham. Centerpiece wise you could consider oil lamps or mason jars with votives or tea lights. Perhaps you could find cowboy hats to fill with mints as wedding favors tie with tulle. Just throwing ideas out at ya...you seem very creative. Creative and PATIENT...cause brides can go nuts over wedding plans. PS I, also, think bulls with the western theme but honestly have no clue how you would incorporate a bull into a wedding. The groom perhaps.

| We had a small wedding, close family only in Cumberland Gap, TN, but our reception was a huge pig roast the following weekend. Hay bales for seating, daisies in mason jars on the tables, the drinks were in ice in a huge metal cattle feeder/waterer - everything country. It was really nice and comfortable-no uncomfortable suits and tight dresses, just t-shirts and shorts. |

| It looks like you are sent on the John Deere Theme. My Aunt and Uncle did that years ago ... but it wasn't as fancy as that! As for the country wedding, I do have some ideas, as I helped my cousin with her country wedding! She had a lot of success with this online vendor, who has a whole section dedicated to Country Theme weddings: Western Wedding, Western Weddings, Western Wedding Invitations | Brides Village That site has some super good ideas! There are cowboy boot vases, horse shoe "ring pillow," Cowboy boot bubble holders, even garters with a country theme. Super cool! And of course, they have a lot of great western cake toppers! Have you thought about putting hay down the aisle way instead of an aisle runner? If you do that, make sure the bride doesn't have much of a train ... that would be messy! My cousin wore white cowboy boots with her short bridesdress ... everyone thought that was great. Good Luck! Yee haw! |
