| Exercise equipment I am looking at used exercise equipment and I am debating between an exercise bike and a treadmill. Which would you buy? I'm just looking to get the most out of my money.

| I would get the treadmill over the bike, I used to have a treadmill but now have an elliptical, it seems to be so much easier on the joints. |

| That's what I was leaning towards to. My parents have a treadmill they don't use, maybe they will let me use it.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I've had a treadmill for 10 years and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I'm a runner and I really love having something right at home. I tape some TV shows every day and have a Tv/vcr/dvd set up directly in front of my treadmill - and away I go. I love watching my taped Food Network shows while I'm running, lol. Also, if you feel like walking or doing hills - the tread is great for that too. I just get too bored on bikes, I really cannot do them at all.

| I have a Gazelle and I LOVE it! I bought the $99 Gazelle Edge at Wal-Mart. I love to run, but can't because knee issues. This lets me run with no impact! Plus, its light enough that I can move it myself wherever I want it. I have even been known to drag it onto the front porch so I can get some fresh air while I "run".

Therapy Dog Donating Member | I say go for the treadmill....I love ours and always use it. I work out 4-5 times a week and am a member of our local Y and also do Pilates and Yoga. I have tons of "infomercial" stuff at home too..lol...I have my Total Gym, my Leg Magic, tons of dvds, weights, etc., and they sit for weeks, but my treadmill gets used the most. It's in our rec room dowstairs and I just watch one of my favorite shows and walk away. It's the best exercise for indoor and it works wonders on your butt and hips!!!

| Treadmill or eliptical over a bike. The bike doesn't burn near as many calories and you have to do twice the work. The trainers I have worked with and search and rescue swimmers I know all say that the bike is essentially worthless...now, if you are out doing something like training for a tour-de-france then (regular) bikes are a good thing, but you have to know how to use them.

| [F]I also vote for the treadmill. I had a bike, but the seat was very uncomfortable so it didn't get used much. I use the treadmill most days. I put on a CD and walk to the beat of the music. [/FONT] |
