Default Early Monday Semi-Rant

Just wanting to get out some frustrations on something...just generally speaking...

Why do people join YT JUST to try to sell their puppies? They never participate in any other converstation or topic on YT but they hijack threads and PM people trying to sell their dogs. They accumulate a few posts and then they don't log back in and become active again until months or more later when they have their next litter they are trying to sell. I just don't get it. I almost feel like we are being 'used' for free advertisement.

OK, mini-rant over. I feel loads better now.

Well, when I checked my PMs and had one from a new member here that I'd never even heard of trying to sell me a 'super small, cute for only $400' and I looked and the only posts by this person were similar and trying to peddle pups, it kind of hit a nerve....

One of my pet peeves too.....

New members only coming on to sell their puppies...jumping in the middle of conversations to do just that...sad, sad, sad.....Sometimes I wish that the option to sell puppies here was non-existant.

Either that or only donating members or something like could sell - just like anything else people want to sell, they have to be donating members.

On the other hand, I got my Kaya from someone who had to rehome her baby and she posted on here about her. If she hadn't been allowed to, I wouldn't have my sweetheart!

So I guess I have mixed feelings but do agree that it doesn't seem fair to others who have to be donating members to sell even a sweater.

I know darn if you and darn if you don't. I don't think prohibiting the selling of pups would eliminate it, since there are other patterns that one can see when one is advertising:

I just bred my boy/girl....my girl is having puppies right now.....see pics in the nursery.....It's a subtle way of posting the pups prior to the 10 week rule, other than joining the featured breeders section.

So, glad you got your baby, Kaya........

I am glad you feel better. There is so much more to this sight than selling puppies.... I hate parting with my babies....

Well, they weren't rude in the post, and there is nothing in the 'rules' that says they aren't within their right.

You're not allowed to send random, unsolicited PMs (or something along these lines), according to admin.

I had to report someone for that once because it kept happening.

I agree! Why do you have to be a donating member to sell blankets or clothes, but not PUPPIES!? I would think that would cut out a lot of it..I guess it wouldn't stop those PMs, though..

That was the first thing I thought with the recent incident concerning a member getting a very sick pup from a new poster...there really should be a different way of doing the for sale section.....That was really sad for the member to go through.....

LOL I was seriously thinking about writing this exact same thread a couple days ago!! Girl, we must think a like (except when it comes to food ). I look in the for sale forum often and hate to see new members posting puppies for sale...esp. when they are non-donating members and using their first post to sell puppies! Why is it that you have to be a Donating member to sell items but not puppies Seems like it would be MORE important to require a donation and certain amount of postings for a breeder than someone just selling dog clothes... I just think it opens up YT members to so many unreputable breeders. There just ought to be more requirements for selling puppies on this website. I've seen a broker trying to sell a one pound tiny, sick puppy (yet denying she was a broker ), people breeding their oversized yorkies, people breeding undersized yorkies, and just overall way too many BYBs selling them here

I just don't trust these new members only using YT to sell their puppies
