Question HELP needed! Does anyone have a remote car starter?

I got that feature with my car but I do not know how it works.
I hit the button. The car beeps once, and then within seconds,
beeps 2 more times, but the car does not start.

Am I doing something wrong? There was no pamphlet with instructions,
and I did look on line to see if there were directions, with no luck.

Any help would be really appreciated.

I had a Jeep Wrangler that had remote start on it. It was awesome when it was cold, I could start it and have it warmed without having to go outside!!!

Mine, I remember, I just hit the button and the lights came on it and started. I never had any problems with it. I know that there are many different remotes out there and I no longer have that Jeep, so I can't help!

It is a new car...where you can call the dealership?

Oh right, you definitely need that at the North Pole. hee hee

yes, it's a new JEEP in fact, the GCL, but I never see the lights blink.
I guess I need to call the dealership, or no, wait, I better call the service department,
the salesmen do not know anything.

When I got the car in August, I could not see the dashboard lights, etc. They were so dim.
He told me that was normal. Later I found that there is a gradient light switch on the steering column,
where the directionals are. Why didn't he know that?

Did you like the Wrangler??? I think it is really sporty looking.

Thanks everyone for the answers, I am going to try it when it gets dark out to see if the lights blink.

But I do know the car does not start. It used to

Pull out your owner's manual as I am sure it will tell you how to do it.

That was the first thing I did ... looked under REMOTE START, STARTING CAR, AUTOMATIC START UP, and similar phrases, nothing was there.

I called the service department tonight and they switched me to "prep" and they told me to make an appointment to bring the car in.

Guess that is what I shall do.

I hit the button, the lights blink, but since the parking lights do not stay on, he said that means the car did not start!

It used to work, (in the summer, when it is not so important), but now it is on strike.

Thanks for the suggestion though. And I am glad everyone else's works properly. I would hate to think this is just another way to take our hard earned bucks.

Guess someting went wrong. It happens, (well, yes, I have the proof). At least the car starts with the key. PHEW!

What type of vehicle is it?

I'm a service advisor at a Chevrolet Dealership so I know my fair share about cars. Especially General Motors vehicles.

All of the new Chevrolets come with the option of remote car starters. Starting with the 2004 'new' body style of the Malibu, 2006 Impala, 2007 'new' body style of the Silverados, Tahoes and Suburbans.

Hi Luckyone, thanks for answering, It is a Jeep Grand Cherokee (2007) and I have the extra remote for the start up. And although the lights blink and the horn beeps when I hold the button down, I do not hear the car start (I am doing it from my window). Sometimes the car will beep 2 times. Does that mean I hit the button again, too soon? Also, the parking lights do not come on and the tech said that meant the car did not start. It worked when I first got it because I remember showing it to my daughter and my friends.

I am going to have to bring it in to the service department they said when I called last night. Now I have to get into a cold car, when the whole idea was to have the car warmed up.

For My Coby, I did not order it originally, (I got the car in August, I was not thinking "cold"), however, later I called and asked them to add it. When it came down to signing the papers and all, it seems they gave it to me for free. and my momma always said FREE is good.

Thanks barbiesMoMmY, I shall try it and hold the button down, although I thought I did do that. But I am willing to try anything now.

The way mine works is the vehicle has to be locked. Which is pressing the lock button twice (once locks the driver's door, twice locks the rest of the vehicle and sounds the horn) then I press and hold the remote start button for about 5 seconds, and it starts. My parking lights also flash when it start. A lot of people that call in forget to lock their vehicles before they try to start it.

Also if you have a service engine light on, it disables the remote start. (And usually the cruise control too)
