| I'm sick, anyone have a good remedy? I have pneumonia I have a fever of 102 (and climbing) a raw throat, throbbing headache, I can't breath, can't keep anything down and just feel miserable and weak. The doctor gave me antibiotics, some kind of cough syrup that makes me loopy, and a decongestant but it's not working. I know the antibiotics take time to work and he also gave me a shot to help me feel better faster but it's not fast enough. Any advice? I dodged the hospital today but if I don't get this fever down, my family will force me to go and I just can't right now! I can't even sleep, I just lay around in misery all day. What makes you feel better when you're sick? Any advice to help me breath? I tried steam and menthol but it didn't even work in the slightest.

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I'm so sorry! feel better. For the not being able to breathe, do you mean through your nose? If that's the case, then go into the bathroom, close the door, and turn on the hot water. The steam will clear your sinuses.

| Last cold season I tried these discs you put down in the shower. The steam releases along with the medicated vapor. The combo of meds and warm water on my back made me feel a LOT better, but I can't remember what they are called now. Hope you feel better soon. So sorry!

| If you have a climbing fever of 102, I'd say go to the hospital. Your family is right. You need to go. You don't know what else it could be or turn into if you don't get it treated. Hope you feel better!

| Yeah, I can't breathe thru my nose because of the congestion, and if I breathe thru my mouth it kills my throat! I already tried the shower thing. I went into my guest bathroom which is pretty small and turned the shower on hot. I put one of those vaporizing shower tablets in there too but it didn't work. Tucker is also a bit congested so I took him in there with me. Worked great on him just not on me Good suggestion though, any more?

| I really can't. Lily is very sick and needs constant care right now. My family would be going back and forth and wouldn't be able to take care of her like she needs. Right now I'm at 102.4. I just have to stay under 103. His nurse is calling me tomorrow to check in. I'm giving myself until then to get it under control and then I'll consider alternatives.

I did a breathing treatment at the doctor's office and I already have one here at home because of asthma. It helped me draw more air into my lungs but made me really shaky.

| Praying you will feel better soon. For the past two nights I have been sleeping in my recliner. It helps me to breath better. Have you tried that Nyquil cough. That really worked for me a couple of nights ago. Are you taking tylenol and motrin...alternately every 2 hours. That's what the kids dr. told us to do. Gracie had a temp of 104 last week that wouldn't go down so she was in the hospital for 2 days. Another important thing is to keep hydrated...force yourself to drink. Take care.

| I'm sorry to hear your not feeling well, I do hope you get better soon! But If you think you have Pneumonia, i think you need to be on antibiotics because you have fluid in your lungs and it could be caused by bacteria. The number of days you take antibiotics depends on your general health, how serious your pneumonia is, and the type of antibiotic you are taking. Your doctor will choose your antibiotic based on a number of things, including your age, your symptoms and how severe they are, and whether you need to go to the hospital. Although experts differ on their antibiotic recommendations, the first antibiotic used usually is one that works against a wide range of bacteria (broad-spectrum antibiotic). All antibiotics used have a high cure rate for pneumonia.6 If you do not have to go to the hospital, your doctor may use any of the following antibiotics: Macrolides, such as azithromycin, clarithromycin, and erythromycin. Tetracyclines, such as doxycycline. Fluoroquinolones, such as gemifloxacin, levofloxacin, and moxifloxacin. If you have to go to the hospital, your doctor may use any of the above antibiotics. Other antibiotics that your doctor may use in this situation include: Cephalosporins, such as ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, ceftazidime, or cefepime. Penicillins, such as amoxicillin, amoxicillin with clavulanate, ampicillin, and ticarcillin with clavulanate. Vancomycin. Antibiotics usually work well with younger, otherwise healthy people with strong immune systems. You most likely will see some improvement in symptoms within 2 to 3 days. Unless you get worse during this time, your doctor usually will not change your treatment for at least 3 days. If there is no improvement or if your symptoms get worse, you may need culture and sensitivity testing. These tests help identify the organism that is causing your symptoms and determine whether the bacteria may be resistant to the antibiotic. But if it's a Viral Pneumonia..At this time, there is no proven medicine to treat pneumonia caused by the influenza virus. Home treatment, such as rest and taking care of your cough, is the only treatment. Varicella pneumonia, which is rare, can be treated with the antiviral medicine acyclovir. In most cases pneumonia is a short-term, treatable illness. But frequent bouts of pneumonia can be a serious complication of a long-term (chronic) illness, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). If you have a severe long-term illness, it may be difficult to treat your pneumonia, or you may choose not to treat it. You and your doctor should discuss this. ok i talk too much. |
