| Horrible Muscle(?) Pain Im having a really bad pain in my upper right rib area (its basically a pain located right under my right breast) that I had before I was pregnant but its getting worse everyday. Im not sure if its a pinched nerve, pulled muscle or what it is. The only thing that makes it feel better is to push on it really hard or lay flat on my back(which Im really not supposed to do while pregnant because of circulation to the baby) but otherwise anytime I sit or stand it hurts and gets progresively worse thoughtout the day. I told my OBGYN about it but of course he really cant do anythign about it except tell me to I can take tylenol which does not work at all. And the only explanation he can offer is the generic concept of muscles stretching with the pregnancy but I had this pain before I got pregnant so I knwo thats not the root cause of it but may be the reason it is getting worse, when I had it before the pregnancy it only occured when I sat down for prolonged periods of time (I think poor posture contributed to it). So anyways, does anyone know what Im talking about or have a similar pain? I really cant deal with it much anymore and its getting so bad it puts me out of commission as I have to lay down to escape the pain. I miss normal activitys and really miss being on YT I see my OBGYN on wednesday and Im going to see if there is anythign else he can suggest but I thought I might try posting on here and see if anyone may have any ideas of what it may be or little remedies I can ask my doctor about trying as Im desperate to get back to normal activites and away from the pain!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Could it be the baby putting pressure on your organs ? I remember having some serious pain too when pregnant but you do need to keep the doctor informed and HE needs to take you seriously !! Good luck girl - |

| I had pain like that twice....once the doctor said I had a cracked rib? (nothing they could do but told me I could wrap it and apply heat) And other time it was some sort of lung infection? (was given antibiotics) It was in the same location like you are having it. I remember when I was pregnant, I had pain right between my ribs and the doctor said that was just the baby...I guess Katelyn was pulling on my ribs (ha) Hope you feel better soon!

| you say you had the pain before the pregnancy so it isnt be caused by the baby but having her cramped inside there might be making it a little worse. I have no advice (never experienced that type of pain) just sympathy, the last few weeks of pregnancy are so hard and to add this other pain to it makes it harder. Im sorry but just think soon you will have your precious little girl and you can also get to the doc and try to figure out what is causing the pain

| It could be costochondritis. I've had that and it is painful. It is an inflammation of the tissue between the ribs. I was able to get it to go away using a therapeutic level of motrin 800 mg every 6 hours for days. |

| Oh sorry. I know with my 2nd i got pains like that. I would literally walk around pushing down just under my breast area. It was her feet. She would push up on my ribs and everything. Talk about painful.

The pain did start about 2 years ago shortly after I had pneumonia and the doctor x-rayed my chest to make sure it wasnt pneumonia or an infection and it wasnt. Im wondering if it could be a cracked rib that never healed. I have horible posture and tend to slouch over and thats when my pain would be the worse. The pain is actually forcing me to sit completely upright and I almost have to arch my back the other way now. Before I was pregnant the pain would come and go so I never had it thouroughly checked out but Im going to after I have Tess. She is now big enough that she will sometimes push up on the area that hurts, Im really dreading it when she gets even bigger that she will probobly be lodged in that area 24/7.
