| My Saturday ruined/Broadway closed! Well, I waited for 6 months to see Jersey Boys with my son and dil. It was a birthday gift from last May from them. They were picking me up at 11:30 for a 2:00 matinaee and Broadway Closed, went on strike at 11:00am. We were so mad but when I saw the disapointment on the children's faces who were going to see the Grinch, that was opening up on Sat, I forgot about my own disapointment and felt so very bad for all those children. What a shame. |

| Yeah I heard that on the local news this morning. The broadways like Jersey Boys, Wedding Singer and more were closed because of that writer strike going on. I'm sorry you didn't get to see it. |

| Actually it's the stagehands striking--diff from the writer's strike also going on. I'm so sorry you missed out--- that really bites! If I understand correctly-- you do get a refund, but from the pics of the crying kids I saw on the news yesterday (Grinch)--- that's no consolation. |

on line 6months ago. That's how long we waited to get there. They stated on the news all ticket holders would be refunded. They must have lost a bundle. | |

| Actually, the strike on Broadway was the stagehands on strike and the writer's that went on strike was for TV shows. Two different strikes! According to CNN. Yes, the poor kids who were so looking forward to seeing the Grinch. How do you explain you can't go, to the little ones. I did see on the news the actors were actually there talking to the children on the street which was very nice of them. They all went into character too. |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Oh yes, this is the biggest news in the Broadway community right now. It is very dissapointing for all involved. I feel so badly for those who bought tickets to a show during this strike. I hope it can be worked out quickly. The casts of most shows have been out on the streets signing autographs and some casts have been performing some songs on the streets. A lot of newer shows will suffer horribly from this, and some may close down permenantly. The stagehands who are on strike have been working without a contract since July, and have been trying to negotiate with producers and the League since that time. The League has cut their pay, reduced their benefits, and cut jobs and gave no reason for it. The union pushed back the cut off date for months, and they were originally going to do a lockout - meaning that no one would be paid anything. none of the Broadway community is getting their full pay - Actors' Equity said that they will support the strike, so the actors are only allowed to cross the lines to sign in at their theatres. They are only getting about $15/day, and orchestras are getting nothing. It is a very bad situation. My friend was at the picket lines yesterday picketing, and she said that some actors expect it to last from weeks to months. Let's hope that one side will be able to let up a little bit. The producers are losing millions of dollars everyday, I don't know what their problem is. I support the stagehands 100%, because this is something they've been trying not to do.
