| new member from michigan Hello everyone. I'm a new member or yt. I have 2 beautiful babies. There names are abbie girl and maximillian. Abbie is not quite 4 lbs and she is 2yrs old. Max is 4 lbs and he is 4 mos old. I am a little concerned about this. I was hoping to breed abbie once with max, but I am afraid that he may be to big. The breeder assured me that max would only reach no more than 5 lbs. I hoping someone can give me a little insight on this. should I consider breeding abbie with max or not? And do you think that Max wil be larger than I was told. thank you. |

| I do not think that it would be a very good idea to breed your female with this male at all. His size is going to be much larger than her and she is so tiny that I dont really think that it would a very good decision. This is just my opinion and I am sure that you will get others with this concern. And by the way welcome to YorkieTalk.

| new member from michigan Thank you for a quick reply. This is what I am thinking also. Abbie is my baby and I do not want to do anything that may harm her! I am very curious as to how big max will get! Any guesses. thanks |

| You can never know exactly the size that they will be but you can have an idea, I believe that the charts say at 12 weeks to double the weight so I would guess somewhere between 6 and 8 lbs but you never know until the time comes when they stop growing.

| It all depends on that too, sometimes they can grow all the way up until their 1st birthday and sometimes even longer. Some may stop growing at 6 months thats kind of one of those guess things too. Sorry I know that I am not much help but every puppy is different and you can really never know the correct answer to all of the questions until the time comes. Kind of like kids, when they are born you dont know what they will weigh when they grow up or how tall they will be, its different in every puppy.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Max will be too large to breed with Abby. Also, Abby is not big enough herself. Frame comes into play but it's safe to say no bitch under 5 lbs should be bred. Please go back and read in the breeder's section. There are many posts on this topic...especially look for the locked threads.

| welcome from muskegon next door to you.. Hello, and welcome to yt.. I live in Muskegon. I don't get on here as often as I would like to. I changed shifts in December and now I work 3rds. So I am still working on a schedule. I have two yorkies. My older one is 13 yrs old and my younger one will be a year the end of March. They are both males. My younger one weighs about 8 pounds. His mother weiged 6 pounds and his dad weighed 3 pounds, we were surprised that he got this big. They are our babies. We are going to get a female so we can breed. Again welcome...
