| Potty Training a Boy HEEEEELLLLPPPPP, it is SO freaking difficult to potty train Tyson. He hikes his leg up everywhere! He will pee pee in like eight spots outside but won't do number 2 out there only inside. He also doesnt let me know when he needs to pee again so he does it inside |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Sorry that's not peeing, that's marking. It's a difficult behavior to stop once established. Is he neutered? Unneutered dogs not only mark more, the smell is much stronger. My dogs still mark outside and on walks, but they don't mark in the house. If you catch him doing it, clap you hands and say no and take him outside or to an appropriate place. Breeders who of course, have unneutered dogs, say they put a water filled bleach or soda bottle in the middle of the pee pad and it acts as a leg lifting place that they can go to. Another option. is wearing a belly band with a pad, and they will get themselves wet if they leg lift while wearing it, but you have to remember to take it off for them to urinate. It's hard to tell the difference between peeing and marking, but marking is governed by scents and other stimulus, while peeing is governed by a full bladder. Marking sometimes is as little as a few drips and they like to cover up any spots where they smell protein, especially the protein found in urine. Here's more information so you will understand all the reasons a dog will mark. https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/virtu...e-marking-dogs And How to Tell if as Dog is Marking or Urinating
