Katie loves the snow, especially if she can combine it with one of her favorite obsessions--chasing after her ball. She can be trusted with them now because she has so many of them all around the house. Since I can't throw them without them sinking into the snow, Katie took matters into her own hands (or paws?). The video isn't properly exposed, but you can see my happy little girl having fun.

She reminds me of those Snowy Owls I saw on PBS last night who could find their prey while out of sight, under the snow! She looks like she's having a ball out in that snow hunting for her ball. At least she's learned not to plow the snow up time after time with her muzzle like Tibbe did the last time it snowed. Katie had herself a fun snow day!

How precious is THAT!!! I ADORE doing absolutely nothing but watching these angels play and have a ball!!! I would love to be able to have mine out in the snow for just a couple of days....nothing I would want to have to shovel to find my house or car, or SHOVEL OFF MY ROOF!!!! OMG!!! but just knee deep for a day or so!

Katie so cute playing in the snow, I have over 2 1/2 in back yard, no strenth to do anymore shoveling lol, do driveway and large back deck,besides everything is frozen, Cody cry's to get in his yard, just can't do it. Last winter I had him in the yard, he slid all over, had to call him in, scared he would break a back leg. All my passed pups LOVED the snow. I LOVE watching them jump in to snow piles, the looks on their faces are priceless lol.

Are you all still freezing up there? We're having a warmer day today, 59 degrees, then we start to cool down to a light winter storm mix for Monday.

Did Katie get another day playing in the snow today?

It's snowing here now, and then it's changing to ice, so it's going to be treacherous. Yesterday with the windchill it was -10 degrees,so Kaie only played for a few minutes once the wind settled down later in the day. Today it wasn't long either, but we played inside. She played for a while on Wednesday and Thursday. Both days she had either a jacket or coat on. Both came from Finland, so they are pretty warm, and I also put a cashmere sweater under the coat. I think they are both to make us feel better aboutw her being out in the cold because Katie doesn't seem bothered by it. I have been putting fleece booties on her also to protect her feet. Katie just wants to play, and she has loved having me home for the week. Monday I go back to work, but Katie will still get lots of playtime. She starts walking around the house with a toy in her mouth, letting me know it's time to play, and I can't resist her..

Before Katie came to live with us, she had lots of play time, but she was part of a pack. Her breeder told me she didn't like the rain, and Katie still doesn't. She wouldn't hesitate to go out in the rain if she knows we are going out to play, though. When she first went out in the snow the first winter with us, she wasn't thrilled about getting her muzzle wet. Now she will dig through a mound of snow, face right in the middle. She is one determined little girl! You can see in the attached photo how she was. She would have attempted anything then, but she was more concerned about getting wet.

Tomorrow it should be low forties, so I hope this ice melts. I hope you stay warm too.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Life is certainly an adventure with Katie. I don't mind the snow flying everywhere when she's digging for her ball, but when she starts digging with dirt as she's done in the past, I probably will only chuckle a little bit before I attempt to distract her. I love hearing your stories about your babies' antics too.

My 3 girls will never see snow, but that's ok with me

They really are spoiled and don't like rain either. I have to go outside and stand in the rain to coax them to come out to potty.

It's funny how some pups like toys and others, not so much. None of my girls like to chase balls, but Tiki loves soft toys that squeak. Kayla and Karlee don't pay much attention to toys at all.

Katie is a beautiful snow bunny! I love your photos of her, and the video. She is darling playing in the snow.

I took my boys out in the backyard today and they had fun romping in the snow too. However, they were a bit disappointed that they had to be on leash because a big red shoulder hawk has been hanging around in our trees.

Let's hope we all see some warmer temperatures and green grass soon. Stay safe and warm up there!

So Adorable! Love her little sweater too. We finally had a good snow this past week, but my 2 refused to even begin to walk in it. They wouldn't leave the deck to go potty so I had to put down pads on the deck for them to use, bless their little hearts!

Lisa, you all just sound miserably cold up there! I'm sorry it's been such a horrible winter. Still, Katie makes things bearable, I'm sure.

We're getting out own taste of winter here tonight and tomorrow. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Dallas County and a huge section of its surrounding counties, with up to 1/2 - 1" of ice expected here so everything is announcing TONIGHT that they are closed tomorrow. I think we already have something like 400+ schools in the area announced as closed tomorrow and only now are some of the bridges getting icy spots! North Texas just doesn't "do" ice and snow without shuttering the windows, drawing in our sidewalks and hunkering down for the next 24 like the snow is 3 feet deep!

Poor little Tibbe had to go potty in the pouring, freezing rain a while ago - I felt so bad for him. Water just pouring off the roof in sheets and he held back for a second or two, then darted right through it and out. Then, after going, he kind of lingered around in no hurry at all to get inside again in that freezing rain! He was soaked by the time he got in. With no weatherproof or double coat, any water does a quick soak job on him. This would be a BAD night for a little Yorkie to door-dart and try to run off!
