|  My Yorkie Waving His Flag - Full-Tail Yorkie He had a full tail when we got him and though it had to get docked. After talking to our Vet, we found out it was our choice. We think it was a good one to leave it! It shows how happy he is:

|  I can't view the video but I love the long tails on Yorkies. I never heard of docking a tail on any dog after it's a couple days old. Glad you left it. The vet was going to do this? Never heard of that either, much too painfull for the dog. Good decision to keep it. Welcome. |

| Love the tail!! If Baby Sweet Pea had her tail I would be in sooo much trouble. That little Yorkette climbs just like a cat. Nothing would be safe, she would have it all on the floor with her busy little tail. LOL Funny how she never climbs on the things that need dusting, Hmmmm!! In Europe they do not allow tail docking or ear cropping, and the dogs there are just beautiful.

I had nothing to do with Baby Sweet Pea having her tail docked. It had already been done by her breeder when Sweetie was just days old. I picked her up at 10 weeks of age. In my original post, I was trying to convey what would happen at my house IF Baby Sweet Pea still had her tail, considering that she climbs like a cat. Her tail goes top speed when she is having her climbing adventures. Just picture what would happen. Unfortunately she has no interest in climbing the bookshelves. A long tail would make an excellent dust mop. I hope that clarifies things for you.

| True, I think it's only the US that dock tails - anybody know otherwise? Our baby was supposed to go overseas but never made it so the tail was left intact. We love it! Given the choice, I'd leave it on.

|   When i was a little girl my mom got a standard poodle from our neighbor who did not take very good care of him. When we got him he was a mess,dirty and very unkept. Also they did not dock his tail when he was born.(we got him when he was 7 months old) My mom took him to the vet and the vet told her his tail needed to be docked. This was forty years ago so she just did what the vet suggested and had it docked. They cut it fairly long at 6 inches.After we got him home he started chewing on the bandage. No matter what we did he just could not stop chewing it....he was crazed! Long story short....he ended up chewing his tail into a stump. At one point we had a cast put on his neck so he could not turn his head to chew on it. Even thay didn't stop poor Rebel eventually the dog got an infefection and he finally died of infection
