| If she has went that long without eating she needs to see a vet. You have to be very careful when you give human food that is balanced and you have to give suppliments because it doesnt meet their nutritional needs. Have you tried giving some canned dog food? Caesars is one that alot of dogs like the taste of

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | For those days that my Harry boy does not eat, I give him Nutri cal, I always have a tube in the house.. also have you tried can wet dog food? usually if my harry gets board of the kibble he starts the non eating binge, that is when the wet can food shows up and gets him eating again, dogs like human get board of the same food every day. I would take him to the vet and if everything else is good, try wet can dog food and see, I also mix his kibble with wet for variety sometimes.. Hope this will help.. Carmen in nj |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Throwing up blood is very serious. You need to take her to a vet. Roast beef and rotisserie chicken are not good choices, the roast beef is too high in fat, and salt, and you don't ever want to give her the skin from chicken as this can cause major tummy upsets, and pancreatitis. What you are essentially feeding is table scrapes. You need to find a balanced dog food; even the poorest brand is healthier than what you are giving her. Joey was a fussy eater too, and I know how hard it is when you feel like you are starving them, but giving them human food just makes them fussier. If you want to give them human food, you need a recipe for a complete and balanced diet, and this means added supplementation. Most people who do this, go to a canine nutritionist for advice, you can't make up your own diet. I know Pet Smart will allow you to buy a bag of food, and will take the bag back, if your dog doesn't like it, if you have the receipt. You might want to try different brands, until you find one that she'll eat, but no table scrapes and even Nutri-cal can dull the appetite if you overuse it. I think, at first, hand feeding them the dog food every couple of hours, sometimes can make them more interested. Also sprinkling a little Parmesan cheese on the food helps, they go nuts for the smell. Please call your vet right away.

It really is not a good idea to feed only meat to your yorkie. They need other nutrients as well. You need to consider giving her dog food and not people food. It is much more healthy for them.

| When my older dog (Lab) is not feeling well, won't eat, I warm up a teaspoon of Baby Food (Veal or chicken) and give him licks of that, Haven't had problems with my Yorkie, try to get to your vet. |

What did this Yorkie start out eating? Has she always been picky even before giving her human food? Does she ever get shaky? If she is throwing up blood, she needs to be seen.

| What's all this about "HUMAN FOOD" No disrespect to anyone, however, what do you mean when you say HUMAN FOOD? Dog food is composed of what, chicken, beef, lamb, duck, rice, barley,veggies- it's all human food. I feed my Roxy Human Food because I have read so many horrible stories about even some of the better dog foods with the "By Products" and preservatives. True you can't just give them meat or table scraps. I cook separate meals for Roxy- I have found several balanced recipes on line. Mainly she eats a mix of chicken breast, white potatoes, green beans, green peas, carrots and sweet potatoes. Some times I sub ground turkey for the protein and switch up the veggies. I used brown rice for the starch for almost a year- then she seemed to be allergic to it so I switched to the potatoes. Roxy also gets raw carrots and peeled apples as treats sometimes instead of her sweet potatoe and fish formula treats. I also put some fish oil from a gel cap on her food every other day or ground flax seed. She also loves broiled salmon, I just put her a small piece in a different dish without all the spices and lemon I put on mine. Occasionall she gets eggs scramble lightly in olive oil. My vet had no problem with the mixes. She gets a doggie vitamin too. So let's be more specific when we say HUMAN FOOD. |

Human food is just that, any food that is safe for human consuption, but this doesn't make it safe for dogs, and a balanced human diet is not a balanced canine diet. Read my post again (post 6) and you will see that I have explained the difference between human food and table scrapes. If you are going to use human food, then you need a diet balanced for dogs. You cannot feed your dog a diet designed for humans; dogs have different nutritional, needs. So it's not the foods per say, it's how you prepare them and combine them. A diet that is perfectly healthy for humans, is not necessary healthy for dogs, because of different nutritional needs. For example, a small Yorkie needs the same amount of calcium as a 125-pound woman. While the diet you offer her sounds really good, most people who are home cooking recommend seeing a canine nutritionist, because what you intuitively think is a balanced diet, may not be. The number one problem with home cooked is that it's not a balanced diet for dogs, and you need to learn exactly what supplements to give them. How do you know what you are giving her is in the right balance for her? No one is saying you shouldn't home cook, just do lots of research first, and I wouldn't do it without seeing a nutritionist.
