Bad News....Good News YT Lovers, First, the Bad News. I spoke with my Pup's Breeder last night, who said that I could pick up my male Yorkie on June 18th. For those of you who will recall, I had planned to pick him up on June 11th. So, that was sad. At first I was alarmed, but she reassured me he was fine. She said they all needed an extra week so he could be transitioned to dry dog food, as well as monitor/tape his ear so it is erect, and also to give him a shot, which may make him drowsy. So, I certainly understood, but sad nonetheless. She is so conscientious and I certainly trust her judgement. Next....the Good news. Here are some photos she took of my baby late last night, who for now has the name Courage, named by the Breeder's daughter. I have eliminated two names(Kecki, and Khlo), but I still have three names under consideration and those are: Prince Ferdinand(whose name goes with Queen Isabella, my Smooth Fox Terrier); General Patton; and Kharma. Thanks for the help you've given me in choosing a name, so now that I've narrowed it down to these three, what do you think? I hope you'll agree that he is a specia Little One! ~Bella & Maria~

Don't Worry Dear Bella, Don't worry. It is best to wait on yorkies to be older. They do have a risk of getting hypoclycemia if they leave too early. How old will he be when you pick him up now? With the ears - the breeder probably just wants to make sure they are up when you pick him up. But they can go up and down afterwards - while he is teething. If you want his ears to stay up better, just keep the ears trimed. Rhposody yorkies has a great web site on how to do this. She also has great information on puppy care too. I love her site. I also like Shooters page site too - great for yorkie lovers. Well, best of luck with your new baby. Time will pass quickly and soon you will have him home.

Thanks! Topknot, Thanks for all the helpful information. I'll have to keep that website in mind. He was born on April 10th, so he is 8 weeks young today. That's what the Breeder said about his ears. I won't know how to do it, so I'll have the Breeder do it while she takes care of him for four days while I am out of town. She has been so kind and gracious. Thanks, ~Bella & Maria~ Thanks again,

I think your breeder is very wise and cares about the puppies to do what is in their best interests. You will be happy in the long run. IMO opinion the breeder should keep the puppies until 12 weeks for optimum socialization, etc., but I know it's hard to wait for a new puppy! You must be so excited! Do you work from home? Don't worry the time will go fast.

SoCalyorkLvr, Thanks for the input! You are so right. One of the things I liked most about this pup was his(and his sisters') relationships with both their parents, who were there on the premises. They were playing, chasing one another while I was there for over an hour. His extended family was also there and they were as playful and affectionate. So, even though I have to wait one more week it is ok. She has asked me to stop by any time to see him. BTW, I do not work from home, though that would be nice. I work four days a week, though sometimes it is three days a week, depending on my schedule. But the pup will be accompanied by my Smooth Fox Terrier, whom I've posted an earlier picture. Take care, ~Bella & Maria~
