| I am very sad for my puppy staying home alone for 8 hours I feel very very bad about leaving my puppy - Sparky alone at home for 8-9 hours. My fiancee has been working out of town this week, and I have to work full time in the office. My poor little puppy - Sparky has to stay home alone for 8-9 hours for the whole week. He doesn't eat and cry a lot. I am really sad about it, but I have to make leaving. Do you guys have any ideas for this problem. How can I make Sparky happy. Even though we bought a lot of toys and treats for him,he is still very very upset. |

| Is he in a room or does he have the run of the house? Have you tried leaving the TV on? Some dogs love the TV! Does he have company...another dog, a cat? Is there a neighbor or a dog walking service you could hire to walk and play and spend time with him? 8-9 hours is a long time for anyone to be left alone, especially yorkies who thrive on interaction with others. If I was close, I would offer to puppy sit for you. Is there anyone from YT in your area? Anyway you can arrange a longer lunch hour just for this week so you can go home to him in the middle of the day? |

| I am sorry to hear that Sparky is so sad But give him time. He will get used to it. When we got Annie we had to leave Annie alone for those long periods of time from the beginning as we both worked. She wimpered and whined when we left in the beginning. Even would line up at the door to run out with us... But after some time she just got used to it, and now she just watches us go. It just takes time. I still feel bad leaving her (I don't think that will ever go away) but you get used it.... |

| TV is on Quote:
Yes, I leave the TV on, and a lot of toys as well. I locked him in a kitchen area, so he can not run anywhere in the house. He should be very safe there, but he is very lonely as we don't have any other pets with him. Sometimes, my landlord is home, and she can bring him to her room. However, there were two accident happened in my landlord room as Sparky eats some poison plant and some hard plastic staff in her room, and he got very sick after that. I don't know if it's a good idea to leave sparky to my landlord as she is very busy on the house work and can not pay full attention to Sparky. It's very dangers to Sparky as he eats everything. Yes, probably I have to leave work early today and take some time off tomorrow as well as Friday.

| Some people told me the same thing Quote:
Yes, some friends of mine told me the same thing that Sparky has to experience this period and will get used to it sooner or later. However, he is only 3 month old, and I read some information from internet that this age's puppy is very easy to get stress of being lonely, and it's very bad for his health. Is it ture? How old was your puppy when you started to leave her alone at home? and did it effect to your puppy's health, such as she didn't want to eat, and becoming very angry, and so on. Thanks!

| Does he have space to roam around in the kitchen area? What are you using to keep him in there? |

Oh, yes, there's a lot of space for Sparky to roam around. It's basically a hallway and a kitchen (there's no door in the kitchen). I use two big suitcases to block this area from living room.

| You could try to set up 2 yahoo messenger accounts. Let account "A" to start the webcam, go to Messenger --> Preferences ---> and set "allow only" account B to view webcam. You could take a peak at Sparky-S. PS* Required DSL @ home, web cam, and a cheap laptop with wireless. Also make sure your employer allow to use messenger. . |

| We got Annie when she was 8 weeks old. I had always wanted a yorkie and for our first anniversary my husband surprised me with Annie. He brought her home on a Thursday. So on Friday we had to go to work. Then we were with her the whole weekend and then back to work the next week.... After a couple of days she got kennel cough so we had a hard time getting her to eat but we talked to vet and the breeder and we got through it. Don't worry. If sparky doesn't eat, just make sure he gets some nutrical so that way he is getting some nutrients and an energy boost, and when you are at home "spoon" feed him if you have to make sure that he gets some food in him... She was never angry with us.... Whenever we are home she is so happy to see, that all she wants to do is be at our side |

| The web cam is such a great idea! Yes, with time she will get used to being alone. Josie was 13 weeks old and I wasn't working at the time so, I got to be with home all the time. Now I ended up getting a F/T job so she's alone for 9 hours at a time. There times where I can go home and surprise her. My poor little girl she gets soo happy! So she will be okay, it's just so hard at the beginning. All will be fine.

| You could also call your home answering machine, speak into the answering machine, (if it closed by your pup). He/she could hear your voice, kinda play hide and seek. . |
