great idea, but Great idea, however, gifts are never suggested. Most people will know if you call it a "shower" however, to suggest that they bring a gift is in poor taste. Have the shower, do not suggest that they bring a gift, chances are they will, but not at your suggestion. JMHO

| What a great idea! I mean, new dog, you need supplies, just like you need baby supplies for, well, a baby, right? Send out invitations, so people take you seriously, just as you would a baby shower,or bridal shower, and see what happens. I'm sure your friends will get a kick out of it, since no one really does this. And turn it into a fun time. Maybe your friends can bring there dogs etc. and you can serve nice dog treats, and good food and drinks for the owners. I'm sure it will be a hit. I'm going to do this for my next dog, what a brilliant idea. Good luck!

OMG . We were just talking about that in the chat room the other nite. I think it is a great idea cause there is a lot needed when bringing home a new pup. Especially ones you know are going to be spoiled anyway lol.

My friend had a puppy shower when she got her toy poodle. Gifts were not asked for, but most people brought them. She provided food and drink for everyone and it was fun. Mostly we all sat around talking for a few hours taking turns holding the pup.

Why not? I know someone (an attorney here in Cleveland) who threw a "Bark Mitzva" for his dog!
