| Duke Here are some pictures of my baby, Duke. I love him more than the humans in my life! He is five years old (as of last month), but I just became his Mommy in January as the family that had him began having children and found that Duke didn't get along too well with them being as he had been the only baby and spoiled rotten for so long. He does like children and loves other dogs, but mind you the children must be older and calm and the dogs must be more matured dogs and not puppies! The first picture is of him playing with his favorite toy. The second is of a few days after I got him... love to play up those ears! The third is of him just getting back from the groomer. I always have to my camera set on motion/sports shots because once you get in the floor, he brings you a toy and is ready to go, go, go. |

| Thanks for all the nice comments. And about the transition, it was hard for both of us at first. He is my first dog strictly of my own since I moved away from home and it was hard to get used to taking him out to potty, feeding, playing, and having a constant shadow. He also was crate trained and the owners gave me his cage. He hated it, but I thought I had to keep him in it. They told me that they put him in there all night, let him out for a half an hour in the morning when they got ready, and then put him in there all day until they got home from work. So, after a few nights of putting him in the cage, I couldn't take it anymore. They told me he had accidents all over the house if they didn't put him in there, but... I was willing to let it happen. For the first few days he did have accidents in the house as being a little boy, he marked his spot everywhere... but, after those first few days, he stopped. He also wasn't leash trained with them, but now he has the hang of it and will get his leash for me when he wants to go out. The only time he has an accident now is an occasional poo in the house because he refuses to go out in the rain, not that I blame him. I feel like they didn't have the attention to give to him anymore and he was just acting out. He seems happily adjusted as far as I can tell now and I am too.

| Congratulations!!! Sounds like you are both lucky! You obviously are doing a great job .... can't imagine them keeping that poor baby in a crate for that many hours. He is a gorgeous baby and I will bet that before long he will be snuggling with you at night! Our Toto sleeps with us ... we just make sure her little stairs are in place and if she needs to go during the night, she will go to her pad, get a drink of water and scoot right back to bed [usually without even waking us]! You are going to have sooooo much fun with your beautiful little Duke!
