My furkids Donating Member | Hi Kriston, did you get both of your babies at the same time? My little Sadie Mae is 2 1/2 yrs old and we have another [girl] furbaby coming next month.... To say the least Sadie is very very spoiled [like most yorkies aren't!!] I just want to know what to expect....I have had animals all my 49 years of life. I have brought in strays, and had many pets at the same time but, yorkies are a little different....could you give me any adivise?

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I actually got Bear for Christmas, he is nearly 10 mos old now. Our friends had one and DH called their breeder, wonderful surprise! We were so impressed with Bear and decided that since he is such a great dog he needed to reproduce, so we had him vet checked and x-ray'd, etc., and then we set out on a quest to find the perfect female. As soon as we saw Lola, it was love at first sight, literally. She is nearly 3 years old and has never been bred, which is exactly what we wanted (by the time she comes in again Bear will be almost 14 mos). She has been with us for almost 2 weeks and by day 2 she fit into our family perfectly. You'd think that she has been with us since the beginning. She and Bear were eating out of the same food bowl and even though they each have thier own "stuff" including their own dog beds, they have been curling up together in her new doggie bed since day 2. They began to "mesh" immediately, a couple of butt sniffs and they were good to go! They are inseparable. The only tiff that they have had was in bed (My Bed!) on the first night, and that was just over who would sleep where. I think that Bear put his foot down when she got in his "spot" on mom's bed! LOL! Within about 3 minutes they found their new "spots" and we were good to go again! I don't know, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I am pretty lucky with these two! Here is how I introduced her: I put her in the laundry room with her own stuff as soon as we got home. Her own stuff meaning her own food/water bowl, her own new doggie bed, her own crate, her own new toys and a fresh pee pad just in case. The two dogs were separated by a babygate so they could sniff each other for about an hour. I took my cues from them. Then they acted like they wanted to be together, so I got in Lola's area and brought Bear in with me. They sniffed and then began climbing all over and kissing me, LOL! So I got out and gave them some (supervised) time to themselves. She was leary of him initially, but she quickly got over it. He was never leary of her, he was just excited to get a friend! I really think that you'll be happy that you have two, I am VERY glad I did it. Good luck and let us know how it works out!
