| Size does matter! Brodee is almost 10 months old now and the best little dog friend we have ever had. I took him to have him weighed because we were getting a little sensitive about the comments people would make, "Is that a Yorkie, sure is big" or "that's the biggest Yorkie I've ever seen". I discussed studding him out before I have him neutered, but someone said "no one would want him, he's so big". He weighs 14 lbs. That is a lot, but he is not overweight for his build, we purposely picked the biggest of the litter because we have 2 boys 12 & 9 and we wanted a yorkie, but one that could endure some wrestling and tossling about. He is great with the kids. I just tell people we are not teacups (Brodee nor I), we are just Latte's! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | That's HORRIBLE that someone said that too you - Many yorkies are larger and even the larger ones are still very small dogs - Don't let anyone get you down - he sounds perfect for your family and that's what counts ....and I think you were smart to get a larger size with kids in the house.....I'd love to see your little guy.... |

| I wouldnt worry about what someone says to you. I have a larger yorkie too and he is great with my Daughter. Thats the blessing of the larger ones they can get in there and tumble with the kids.

| Don't fell bad my girl is seven pounds and I went to buy pizza with her yesterday and the employee in the place said "is that a yorkie, its big, they usually are ........) the others said they really like her. Bottom line when I go out I know I am bound to hear something. I can careless what people have to say or what they think, my girl has met and surpased my expectations. I just love her. |

| I finally was able to purchase "The complete Yorkshire Terrier Book" by Joan B. Gordon. In one of her first chapters she talks about the way yorkies use to be grouped! You know there were three divisons!! 1st under 5 lbs 2nd 5-7lbs 3rd 7-12 lbs Even though it seems like 1966 was a long time ago ,it really isn't. That is when they changed the AKC to MUST Weigh under 7lb So when someone says stupid things, I would just say something like DID you know... and explain . My girls are both over standard 7.5 and 8lbs , I like them that way, as I breed them and they are strong healthy and both big enough to have babies without the worry. (Of course I still worry, but so far I have been luck!!) So, now you have one up on the stupid people..

| Don't let anyone get you down! People say stuff like that about Miko sometimes too. He's 9 lbs, and we've heard "aww, he's so cute, but I want one alot smaller, a TEACUP" and "my puppy won't get THAT big will he?" I mean, that's like telling someone that their kid is skinnier or has prettier eyes or hair...It seems rude to me too. All that matters though is what you think about your baby. I personally think Miko is the most perfect doggie ever hehe

| Brodee is a handsome guy..just perfect as a companion for two boys. I think you made a wise choice to neuter him. Persoanlly, I would be all for changing the standard to at least 10 pounds. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Wouldn't that be wonderful Pat ? Then we wouldn't see all these people obsessed with yorkies smaller than a womans size 6 shoe. |

I lost my Chelsea Marie last February. She was a 14 pound Yorkie who weighed up to 18 lbs in her prime. (Fatty). She was the sweetest kindest dog ever and perfect with babies and little kids. She had a wonderful Yorkie personality and was as smart as any dog I have ever seen. We now have one that is 10 pounds ( he is the sweetest boy on the planet)...and 5 others ranging from 2 lbs and up...They are each wonderful in their own way. Why care what these people who do not know what they are talking about say ? Such rudeness.... Don't let the TURKEYS get you down

| This stupidity happens with the little dogs too. Recently I was out with Vivi who is 4.5 pounds and has always been a bit of o roly-poly but I like her that way. Anyway...Someone at the mall stopped me and said she was cute but definately NOT a teacup. And I said GOOD,BECAUSE there is No Such Thing!!! People can be so rude sometimes.

| Brodee is ADORABLE! Welcome to YorkieTalk to both of you and I look forward to hearing more from you and seeing more cute pics of Brodee! I'm sorry some people give you a hard time about Brodee's size.......there are a lot of ignorant people out there but they run their mouth anyway, lol. Don't worry about us on here, we're nothing but love for yorkies of ALL kinds and sizes!
