| Are females smaller than males even at a young age? I've been looking at the photos the breeder sent me of the puppies. They're 5 weeks old in the photos, but they're 6 weeks old as of yesterday, now. I'm getting a male, there's 3 males, 2 I can pick from (someone else has first pick) I'm trying to figure out if I can tell which ones are the males and which ones are the females, just by their size in this photo.

| Daisy was twice the size of her male littermate. As an adult he is around 7 or 8 lbs. and Daisy is 17 lbs. Both parents were around 7 lbs.

| 17lbs?! wow, and I thought Zoey was big at 11lbs lol. The Dam of the litter is 6lbs, and the sire is 7lbs..so I'm hoping the puppy will be 7+lbs when he's full grown.

| Yeah I don't know what happened to Daisy but she just kept growing. Lol. We were surprised that she got so big but we love her just the way she is.

| YES! and this is only her 3rd litter in 5yrs. But, perhaps since she's bigger she's designed to have a larger litter? I'm not an expert, or a breeder but it's just my thought on it =)

| Wow, I'm no breeder or expert either. I know that the size of the bitch doesn't correlate to litter size. Has she had C-sections?

| Aw, when I got Zoey she weighed 2.5lbs at 8 weeks old. Last time she was weighed at the vets she was 10.7lbs, and that was 2 months ago..But I"m guessing she may weigh 11lbs now, give or take. I like the larger ones. Whilst at the vets, a woman was sitting next to me with a 4lbs yorkie, and she told me her dog was a total diva, and was nippy and didn't like others touching her. Yikes! I'm not saying all little 5lbs or less are like that but I just prefer the large ones because it's what I'm used to. They seem so much more sturdy, too.

| Well that's great! Actually more puppies can mean they are smaller on average, but that isn't always the case. There is no correlation between sex and size tho. Have you met the pups? Find the one that connects with you if you get that chance.

| The breeder likes to do a yearly update with puppies from the litters, and he told me most of them weigh 6lbs-7lbs as adults. I'll be meeting the puppies when they are 9 weeks old. I already made the deposit on a male, and there's 2 I can choose from. I'm going to see which one I get along with best, and I might bring Zoey along..although she's going to be extremely jealous of a new puppy. Do you have any tips on how to choose the right pup?

| No girls arent always smaller. My girl is 10 months old and when I got her at 8 weeks old her brother was 2 pounds, her sister was 5 pounds, and my girl was 1 pound. Her mom was 6 and dad 4.5. At 10 months old she is now 3 pounds.
