I anm no expert..is it illegal too in other parts of the world? And most importantly, can you post pics of your doggies that dont have the tail clipped? for me to see ehat it looks like cause my previous yorkie had it clipped! |

| I live the look of non-docked tails! I asked my breeder to not dock Blazer's but because he was a gift to me she had him docked in case I wasn't going to take him. Docking tails is becoming illegal in more countries- the US isn't one if them, however. I'd love to see pictures, too! |

| Here in norway its against the law to dock a dogs tail. And i love them just the way god created them To see a happy dog waving its tail is one of the most beautiful things in the world I cant understand why people do this to their dog? I thinks its mean and cruel. Its maybe a cultural thing, because i cant see what its good for..? Sorry, cant upload a picture. Its too big for the site.

| I had one This is My Cole Bear he had a tail. I loved his tail and if I ever get ready to get another little boy I will make sure he has his tail too. He had his dew claws still too. He was the smallest one born and the breeder decided not to dock his tail or do his dew claws. He was the only one she ever had that she didnt dock the tail or remove the dew claws.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | My understanding is tails are often docked, where legal, in working breeds to prevent tail injuries. Since Yorkies were bred to be ratters, the fear was their whiplike tails would be damaged in the small nooks and crannies of factories where they did their work. The reasoning at the time was tail injuries are difficult to treat, and it was thought to be more humane and safer to dock as puppies when their nerve endings aren't fully developed than to amputate broken tails as adults under anesthesia. I have no idea if there are any statistics about tail amputations to back that up today. I love the look of tailed Yorkies!

| Yeah, it is old reasoning for the docking - they really aren't working dogs any more. Many areas of the world won't allow docking, which I think is great. If given the option, I definitely would have NOT docked Mandie's.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Agreed, mine were both docked, and I've always thought how awesome it would be to see their little tails wag when they're happy. Not the same with a nub.
