| Pic of my new son Hello all, I just joined the forum the other day, as I needed some help searching for a Yorkshire Terrier, after losing my precious heart dog, the Yorkie Duchess, back on July 6th. But here's the good news. I found someone who shows Yorkshire Terriers (actually she's just getting started in the last year or so), but they are good quality showable Yorkshire Terriers, and due to health, and her husband's request, they decided they needed to "re-home" a couple of their Yorkies. A breeder who I had asked about getting female Yorkies from didn't have any, but was good friends with this woman who had these very fine quality Yorkies, but needed to re-home two of them. So, the owner contacted me, and sent a picture. To make a long story short, I think he's a gorgeous little guy, and he's named Payton (after Peyton Manning), being from Indiana (of course). He's 3 years old and she has shown him, but said that is coat just doesn't grow fast enough, or dense enough to really be shown much (I don't know much about that, I only know that if he is even close to show quality, he is by far the finest quality dog I've ever had). So, we emailed back and forth, and I found that a lot of his traits were traits I was looking for in my next Yorkie. And, she gave me a real good price, so it was really a no-brainer! I spoke with her on the phone, and she was a real sweetheart, and we just really hit it off! So, I'm from Illinois and she and the Yorkie are in Northern Indiana, so this weekend she is going to meet me near the IL-IN border, about half way between our home locations, and deliver to me her beautiful little Yorkie boy, Payton. Please wish me luck, and I want to say that I feel really blessed to have found such a wonderful little sort of "rescue" dog! I think he's beautiful - but then again I'm prejudiced! I only have this one pic, that is a good one. But, if you like, I'll post more after I get him. Thanks for looking! |

| I Found out today that my nephew.... requested prayer for me at church. My brother emailed me today, that the other night at church, the teacher asked if they had any prayer requests. And, my precious little 9 year old nephew, who likes to come over to my house any chance he gets, cause he really likes his Uncle Darrel (and I'm crazy about him and his little sister), told her that she'd like for them to pray for his Uncle Darrel because his dog Duchess had died. He's not really a dog person, and I didn't know that he realized how much Duchess' death had affected me! But, I thought that was so sweet! I bawled like a baby when my brother told me. He and his little sister actually came over to spend time with me, the night after I had to put my baby down, as I told my brother that it would probably really help me, and help me to get my mind off of my baby passing away. So, they came over and we really had a good time together, and I told my brother, you just don't know how much that lifted my spirits! And, it really did. The little girl always wanted Duchess to play fetch with her, because Duchess used to love to fetch her little stuffed toys, when she was healthy. But, she wouldn't or couldn't do it much in the past couple of months. We didn't realize how bad her health was, and little Allison was so disappointed that she really wouldn't fetch for her. But, she did like to pet Duchess, and Duchess always liked to be petted, because Duchess would sit there so calmly and just enjoy the petting. So, she'll be excited if this little guy learns to fetch, or likes to play fetch, and will let her pet him (which the current owner says he love attention). You know, I used to be a person of very strong faith. But, in the last 3 years I've lost a lot of my faith, due to many things that have happened. I even used to play piano a church, but don't any more. But, if this little guy, Payton, turns out to be half the dog I think he's going to be, then I think it is very possible that his owner and I got together, because of my little nephew's prayer request! That just touched my heart so much, I had to share it. I'm so looking forward to Sunday, and seeing my new little guy for the first time! Thank you for all those who said he was handsome, and all the well wishes and encouragement. I will be an active participant on this forum. There are some things I've learned in the last 14 years of dog ownership, and some mistakes that I've made, that I'd like others to learn from. But, we'll get into those later. Bottomline of this post, perhaps God does answer prayer!!! I think sometimes kids, with their child like faith get more accomplished with their faith, than we adults! Oh, and if you're wondering, my nephew and niece have a great home life. They simply like to come to Uncle Darrel's house because we have a blast when we're together! I'm just a big kid at heart! |

| Congratulations on your beautiful new boy! I too believe that God responds at times of need. We lost 2 of our dogs in the same month a couple years ago (in December no less). When we had the 2nd one put down (she had cancer real bad and was suffering), my wife was so upset and that same night she had a stroke. When she got out of the hospital she was barely able to talk and still could not walk on her own. That same weekend she was looking in the paper for a new cocker spaniel (Meadow was a cocker) and there was not a single one in the paper. What caught her eye was an ad for maltese puppies and there was a picture with the ad. She called the lady and said she wanted a female. They had 2 females. Her husband met us half way (about an hour drive for each of us) to meet so we could see the puppies. It was zero degrees and there was about an inch of ice on everything (we lived in Nebraska at the time) and the wind was blowing real hard. It was bitter cold! My wife couldn't walk, I had to help her into the car to go meet the guy, she had to stay in the car the whole time. She took turns holding the puppies. They were freezing, shivering and trembling, and scared to death! Well it took a little while going back and forth between the two, and she finally picked one. We paid the guy, filled out all the paperwork, and even got extra meds and supplies from him. We believe God brought us together, and that that little puppy helped my wife make a full recovery from her stroke. Her name is Lilly (we call her Lilly Lou Who). I believe in fate, and fate brought you and Payton together! Good luck with him. Have a safe trip and be sure to let us know how things go with him.
