| Dog ponds? Madison and I stumbled upon this really cool doggie pond in the park while taking a stroll last weekend. I'd like to continue taking her but was unsure if it was safe. There were about 5 other yorkies (and several other big dogs) the day we went which I was happy about. And it's a great way for me to socialize Madison outside of the indoor puppy play we attend. One of the other yorkie owners told me about a shot that the dogs should get to avoid becoming sick since they drink the pond water. Any other YT members go to dog ponds/or have gotten the shot? Are the dog ponds safe? |

| That would be Jackson's Heaven!!! Looks awesome. Jackson had a bad reaction to Lepto so I can never get it. Most advise not to for small dogs but it all depends on the area you live in it and how important you and your vet thinks it is.

| I would check first and see if there have been any lepto cases in the area. I don't give my dogs lepto shots, but they aren't around water and my vet told me if she sees anything that looks like lepto, she will call me and I'll get my dogs vaccinated. Lepto is one disease that humans can catch from dogs, so if there have been any lepto cases in your area, you need to be careful. Jeanette |
