| Is my yorkie a purebred? Hello! I purchased a Yorkshire Terrier from a breeder in January, 2011. The breeder insists that my yorkie is purebred, but she looks a bit different than the typical yorkie. Is it normal for yorkie puppies to have black masks? I have a CKC certificate of registration that states my puppy is a yorkie. But, I am a bit skeptical because of how she looks. I need an expert yorkshire terrior opinion. My puppy is 12 weeks old. These photos of her were taken today: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...Nibbler011.jpg http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...ibbler026b.jpg http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndpuppy030.jpg http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndpuppy037.jpg http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...ertificate.jpg Last edited by anastacea; 02-12-2011 at 11:41 AM. |

| I'm sorry to tell you, but your breeded is a liar Your yorkie is not purebred. The CKC is also not really a reputable registry, so those papers really do not mean anything.

| How can you tell for sure? The breeder said that the father has more of a flat coat than the mom and has a white chest because he comes from the Parti lines. She said that those lines have more of a wiry coat than the black/blue ones. Could it be true? Thanks for your honesty. Last edited by anastacea; 02-12-2011 at 11:46 AM. |

| Will her hair grow out as she gets older? How old are Yorkies when their hair first gets long? Is it ever possible for a yorkie to have a black mask like that as a pup? Does the mask fur color change over time? Last edited by anastacea; 02-12-2011 at 11:52 AM. |

| Welcome to YorkieTalk. The coat color, coat texture and distribution, structure and face of your pup are not yorkie characteristics. I cannot think of the name of the breed that I think your pup is mixed with. The Continental Kennel Club is a dubious registration. The breeder was dishonest with you. What is your pup's name?

| She sure is cute!! Although I am not an expert, she doesn't look pure bred to me either. There will be others along soon to give a more expert opinion.

It is sad, because she isn't what I wanted physically. But, she is everything I want in personality. She is very smart and playful. Her name is Nibbler. When I get the wisdom panel results, I want to take them to the breeder to show her and get my money back. But, I don't know if I can part with her now that she is part of our family. I feel very deceived by this breeder. | |

| Thank you. Yes, I see she looks very different from than your photo Maximo. I actually ordered a Wisdom Panel from my Vet to find out what she is mixed with. The results aren't going to be ready for another week or two. It is sad, because she isn't what I wanted physically. But, she is everything I want in personality. She is very smart and playful. | Ohhhhhhhhhh you really must keep her. If you were looking for a family pet, you got exactly what you wanted!!!!! Whats better than a happy, playful, smart dog. And not to mention cute as a button too!!!!!!! I too would go back to the breeder and demand money back!!!!! For sure!!!

| I'm sorry this happened to you and you was taken in by this breeder. She is a little darling though and if you love her.....does it really matter I love my girl and can't imagine parting with her, it wouldn't matter if she was mixed or not. Zhoie isn't the standard silky coat yorkie (as they should be) she is a cotton coat, but she is the light of my life, the joy in my heart, the spark to my fire (ok you get the idea) LOL Many have mixed babies and we love them all, with all our hearts!
