| My little boy is almost grown up? Hello, my little boy's name is Toby. I got him at 4 mths. He will be 8 months this month. I guess he is not considered a puppy anymore but I still see him as my little boy. He's very friendly, full of energy and a little hard-headed. Still working on getting him to listen to me ALL the time. I think he is almost fully potty trained except when we do not see his signs. What I would like for him to do is learn to scratch the door or something to let us know he needs to be relieved. Don't know if this is possible. Will keep my fingers crossed and keep trying to train him. I also want to learn to groom him--so good luck to me with that. He doesn't always stay still....This is the first dog I've ever owned and I did not know dogs (Yorkies) were this much work but soooo much fun! I am truly enjoying every moment with my little boy... |

| I am new here also, and a new Yorkie mama...... Your little guy is adorable...and my little guy looks just like him. Mine is about 6 1/2 mths old (we think)...and weighs 4.5 lbs. He is great...quite demanding of my time uh huh....NEEDY, HE IS. This is all new to us again....having a puppy. I didn't remember it being so much work. Ours is doing very well with potty training...I am a little nervous about winter coming up..not sure how that's going to work. Might have to get pee pads. How much does your little guy weigh? Nice to have a place to come for advice and maybe vent a little HAHA |

| HI pionergal68...sorry it took a while to respond. I haven't had much time to do anything. Toby takes a lot of time...as you know from your cutie! Toby weighed 4.5 when he was 7 mths. I have not weighed him since but he feels heavier. He has a vet appt in Jan 11--I'll see how much he has gained. I am surprised he has gained weight because he is a very picky eater but only when it comes to his own dog food. I am having a hard time getting him to eat his food. He is willing to eat every other animals food--my cat's, the other dog's but not his! He also wants table food which we give him (in small quantities) but he eats very little of his own food and expects to eat our food...silly dog. So that's where we are at right now--finding a food he will eat willingly and not hold out sooo long before he decides to eat or before I hand feed him, hee hee. Hope all is good with your little one. Merry xmas! |

| Welcome to all the newbies!! I'm a first time dog owner too. Don't know how much of a newbie I'd be considered, since I've been a yorkie mom for a little over a year. My little boy is 2 and I still consider him a pup! I never thought a tiny ball of fur could make me so happy and so worried all at once. Feel free to ask away and share more pictures of your babies. As far as warning when they need to be let out, when Kaji first came home I would ask him "Do you need to go pee pee?" which was always followed with a trip outside. With enough repitetion, he knew what the phrase meant. Now, he will come paw at me, walk to the door then back to me, or something to get my attention. I'll ask "Do you need to go pee pee?" and he'll run and stand by the door as if saying, "Yes please!" They're smart little guys.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Toby is adorable! Welcome to Yt! Have you considered teaching him to to ring ring a hanging bell? Friends of mine bought theirs at drsfostersandsmith.com. Yorkies catch on quickly as you know. Happy Holidays! |

| Your little boy is adorable and very much so still a puppy... I agree with DvlshAngel985 that you should use a phrase to ask him if he needs to go to the bathroom and make sure to ask him each time before you take him out. We us "Do you want to go outside?" to mean do you need to go potty, and they get to know to whine and then when you ask the question, my two get all riled up and I know they need to go potty. Good luck in your training! It's a lot of work, but they are well worth it all
