| chloe's first haircut, which i do not like. tell me your opinions! when i say "opinions" i mean more like... if you think this was the right cut for her. if you think what i paid was too much for what they did. etc. etc. i went to what is supposed to be one of the best in manhattan. but the regular groomer wasn't there. this is her first haircut, so i'm hoping that for the next one, i'll get the regular groomer of the salon who everyone seemed to love when i looked up reviews online. i paid around $105/$110, including tip. total of the grooming being around $90. her coat is very very soft. they cleaned her ears, clipped her nails, bathed her, dried her, & gave her a cut. picture 1 & 3: before picture 2 & 4: after here are some before & after photos. what do you think? i know her fur was matted and i understand but was the shave necessary? how long will it take for her to grow out her hair about an inch? | Ok, first of all I think Chloe looks super cute! I am considering a short cut because it would be easier to care for, but I am such a chicken! LOL The price, honestly I would die, but that's because the average for my area is around $40ish. I started doing my own because it just got way too expensive with multiples and they never did what I wanted anyway, so I figured I could mess it up myself, at a much cheaper price! LOL

| too much The price is way over the top, especially since they shaved not clipped. I pay $30.00 to $50.00 depending on what I want done, but all said and done your baby looks beautiful either way.

| Chloe looks cute either way. It's personal preference, but I think I like pics 1 & 3 better than 2 & 4. Have you ever considered doing it yourself? A schnauzer like puppy is easy to do, but you do have to be careful, of course. |

| The price is wayyyy crazy. BUT, I think Chloe looks adorable. I simply prefer the shorter cuts tho so maybe I'm biased This is how I keep Jackson... and I pay $55-$60.

| Wow! Sure am glad I live in a smaller town in the south! I pay $25.00 for our groomer and she does an excellent job. I used to pay between $40.00 & $50.00 at PetCo until I found this girl...and they never did a very good job (not bad, just not great). I think the cut looks fine, but I would think that a fairly simple same-length shave shouldn't cost so much. However, she does look very cute short but I think I prefer the longer coat. Course, I almost always prefer the longer cuts on Yorkies so that's mostly just my opinion. Only worth as much as a grain of salt! -C

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | First let me just say that Chloe looks adorable! the price seems about right for the area you live in. Some of those manhatten shops are quite expensive. they may have charged you extra because she was matted. Shaving a matted dog isn't as easy as some of you may think. Depending on how bad the mats are there is a big risk of injuring the dog. Also take into account that she is a puppy and puppies usually are not good for their first couple of grooms. They don't understand what is needed of them. They are not used to the things the groomer does or the ways the groomer will handle/hold them. I'm a groomer myself so i speak from experience. Puppies are wiggly and scared usually. they don't typically stand still on the table while you groom them, even if they are used to being brushes at home. the way the groomer does it is different. They are required to be up on a high table and stand up for 30-60 minutes depending on their groom and behavior. So take into account that she is a wiggly, nervous baby, this was her first haircut/experience at the groomers, AND she was matted. the price could very well be a typical price for a regular groom or it could have been slightly more expensive this time because she was matted and/or took longer then usual due to puppy behaviors (i don't charge for puppy behavior but i've heard some do). If she was badly matted in multiple spots i think the shave was totally justified. No dog likes to be dematted and even adult dogs will not tolerate it sometimes. So the groomer probably opted to shave her instead of demat her for probably an hour. that dematting time would in no way have been a good first time experience for a puppy's first visit at the groomer. again, she is adorable. I keep mine cut down rather short too. Last week i shaved her all down with a 7F blade and left a medium length round head.

| From one New Yorker to another that is the going price for good groomers. I think your baby is adorable. As for the style it is really a matter of your preference

| I think Chloe looks great! You'll get used to the haircut, but it'll grow out an inch in about 6 weeks. My groomer just cut Cooper's hair the exact same way as Chloe's last month and I couldn't stop laughing at him. I had no idea that he was so skinny and couldn't stop feeding him. Maybe it's not the right cut for her because you don't seem to like it but it's ridiculously cute. I personally pay $25 for a great full-service grooming, but i sure don't live in NY anymore.

| WOAH...no thank you for that price! She looks adorable, but I couldn't ever afford that for my boys' haircuts! I actually do them myself. They don't look professional (yet...), but it's free! Really though, I think it'll get some getting used to, but chloe is amazingly cute!!!
