| Pet Blessing @ My Church Today, Biggie and I participated in a pet blessing at my church. Just a little background on the occasion... "Christians everywhere celebrate the feast of St. Francis of Assisi on October 4 by blessing their pets in the spirit of this patron saint of animals and ecology. This custom is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures." It was the 1st one our church ever had. Does anyone else's church do this as well? There was A LOT of other dogs there, cats, hamsters, birds, but Biggie was the only Yorkie! Some pix from the blessing... The priests said a prayer and read a passage from the Bible. Then they came around and sprinkled Holy Water on all the pets and their owners. Biggie was very well behaved, despite some of the bigger dogs barking at him.. hehe.
