YT Addict | New here - me and Lollipop! Hello, my name is Sara (I'm 24) and my little girl is Lollipop (Lolli or Lolli lah for short) and she is 7 years old and 7 lbs. I just adopted her on Tuesday evening (October 27, 2009) and think I have made the best decision in the world. I must admit that I never owned a dog before personally, though have lived with someone who had a curly coated lab and a pomeranian in the past. My mother has owned some Afghans (not sure on spelling of that) and she is going to help me out a bit as I live with her at current. Anyway, Lollis story is quite unique. She was a breeder dog for a year (the owner I got her from only had her about a year or so, andbred her and just now retired her as I adopted her) and we don't know what her life was like previous to that. The owner who is a breeder is a decent woman, she is a vet tech and took decent care of her. I don't have much complaints, just that she was never taught any commands (or if she had known some at a time, she doesn't seem to understand them at all now). She doesn't know 'come, sit, stay, etc' and when you say any of that there is really no reaction at all as if she's never heard the words before except on the rare occasion she will 'come' but I think it's more a response to her name than the command itself. So I'm a newbie at this, and am going to have to train her to learn commands and learn to be a pack leader and hope I do a good job of it. I have done a lot of reading and research and hope that I can have some success with little frustration as I understand it is a bit harder to train adult dogs compared to puppies. Anyway, here are some photos I took after adopting her! http://www.my-version.org/lollipop.jpg http://www.my-version.org/lolli_bed.jpg http://www.my-version.org/lolli_home2.jpg |
