| New pup, new to YT, intro w/ pics Hi everybody, I'm so glad I found this forum - I've found most everyone to be so nice and helpful and fun, I just can't believe it. :-) So THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!!!! Me and my human man decided to get a little doggie man, and we named him Nikko. We went through about a million names, most of them Japanese-sounding (love those crisp easy-to-hear syllables), but we decided Nikko was the perfect blend of masculine and cute. I couldn't figure out if there was a translation for it though, so if anyone speaks Japanese on here, could you let me know if it's a real word at all? But anyways, he's 12 weeks old and a bit of a mutt... So far as we know, he's 3/4 yorkie and 1/4 poodle, so I'm thinking a lot of the Yorkie-specific advice on YT will probably apply to him - which is why I'm here. Well, that and how awesome everybody on YT is! :-) We have had him for just over 24 hours now - one evening, a night, and a day. He loves his crate so long as he can see one of us in the room with him, and we are going to convince him that outside is the place for his pee and poop. He's scared of everything and curious about everything at the same time, so he most often chooses to perch himself on one of us and look around at everything from up there, where it's safer. He also has bat ears - whoever trimmed him before we got him did the ear shaving thing, although they stand up just fine on their own. Here are the pictures - from day one and day two. The girl in the pic is obviously me (Lauren), and the guy in the other pic is my human man, Paul. I'm so happy we work out of our home, so we don't have to leave Nikko during the day - I don't know if I could do it if I had to! PS: What is a DH? Dumb husband? Darling Husband? Dog helper? Paul and I have been trying to figure it out for a few days now, keep seeing it in people's posts. |

| Bhikku, thank you! Daylight sounds good... I was really hoping that it was either a nonsense word or that it meant something halfway cool - "daylight" is better than halfway cool, I like it! It would have been pretty funny if Nikko meant "poop machine," or "scrawny" or something weird like that... lol. I wonder what I would've done? As for DH, the mystery is solved now. LOL, thanks guys (gals). And thanks everybody for welcoming Nikko and me. :-) We've had him about 48 hours now, and he's quickly becoming more and more energetic and curious. Paul LOVES to play around with him - it's hard to decide which of my boys is more cute during these play sessions! We'll call it a tie. Still having a few issues getting him to eat or drink much (he's eating about half the recommended amount), but it doesn't seem to be affecting his energy levels at all, and his treat for doing something good is always a little tip of a spoonful of apple and chicken baby food. He LOVES it. We also unfortunately found out that he had a stomach parasite, Giardia. But he started his medicine today, and are washing everything with bleach, and his cute lil' bum with baby shampoo. I look forward to small solid poops, and I'm sure he does too. Anyhow, thanks again everyone. :-) Lauren and Nikko |
