| Am I Really A Yorkie I bought Tiffany knowing she didn't have papers, but after knowing the people and seeing her parents who are Yorkie's I am beginning to wonder now. She is 15 and a half weeks old now (dob 6-23-08) but still hasn't grow any hair, my mother has her sister and she looks like a typical Yorkie puppy??? The vet tech the other day thought she was a Chihuahua, and a customer at the restaurant I manage said there was no way she was a pure Yorkie. I don't know what to think. I am considering get a DNA test to see, but does anyone know if it is to early for me to do anything like that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks First pic 9 weeks, 10 weeks, and 15 weeks ears were up after 10 weeks???? Last edited by tiffanybrooksco; 10-10-2008 at 05:57 AM. |

| She's a cutie! She does look like she could possibly have that mix in her. Does the breeder breed both?

| she does looked mixed to me.... did the breeder have any other dogs there? because a female can get pregnant by more than just one male example: yorkie female mates with a yorkie male on tuesdasy the same yorkie female mated with a chi on thursday she very well could have a purbred yorkie and yorkie chis in the same litter i havent learned much on the DNA testing but DNA is the same at 1 month as it is 10 years so you should be able to dna her good luck!! |

| Her Parents Both her parents are definately Yorkie. Long story short, I got her from my moms neighbor, so basically not really a breeder. They took in the 2 from an old man at the vet that wanted to get rid of them after his wife passed away. So I believe by seeing them they are 100%, but guess you never know. 1 has papers the other doesn't. Papers don't mean much to me as I just wanted a new baby. I am thinking I really should do the DNA testing in a week or 2. I know the couple I got her from are concerned as well as they say there is no way possible any other dog got a hold of her. So this could be something in the line I think. I don't know???? I am so upset. But I love her, and she is so so sweet.

your right it might be something mixed in the lines, or it could be a throwback gene... | |

| Vet said she was 4.1 lbs a few days ago. When I weigh her here at home I get about 3 1/2 lbs not to bad for 15 1/2 weeks. I think she will be about 6-7 lbs full grown. She is a cutie though and a wonderful attitude with everyone, not a big barker, which is good. And she sleeps with us at night. Last night I woke up and she was curled up in my arm like a baby laying on her back. I love it!

| I must admit that she looks like a long haired chihauha to me, too. The thing is, if you were to discover that she's not 'pure', would it make any difference to how much you love her? If you'd paid premium rate and been guaranteed that she was pure yorkie, I could see an argument for feeling aggrieved. But she's a cutie - and you say yourself that papers don't matter much to you because you just wanted a new little baby. Why not leave it be and love her for whatever she is? |

| I agree she looks like a chi/yorkie mix. Here is a picture of my chi girl Chloe. She is half longhair and half short hair chi. Chloe is a sweet and very smart little girl and very much a lap dog. I think you have a special one there .Just love her .

| Papers don't matter, but I bought her with the understanding she was a pure yorkie without papers. I even saw her parents and they are yorkies??? That is the only problem with the whole thing, if she's not pure fine I don't have my dream baby, but I love this one anyways. But I would have never even considered paying that much for an unknown mix. Hope that makes since. Not sure what route to take with the person I bought her from. He believed she was pure to. Oh well.
