| Question About Pnemonia When I first got my yorkie Ruby she got a URI ( upper respiratory infection) it took about three months to get rid of it. Now my pomeranian Valentino has it and I just wondered what causes this and with my luck they both have had this. I hope he recovers much faster than Ruby because it is constant medication. I most mention I took him to the vet at the first signs of it i don't take chances. Please let me know if you have had similar experiences. |

| Very dangerous Pneumonia is extremely dangerous for small dogs. I lost my Max at age four months from pnuemonia, complicated by liver shunt. Pneumonia is dangerous especially to infants and senior citizens (humans) so you can imagine how dangerous it is for small tiny puppies. The heavier weight, the better chance they have of fighting it. Max was not quite a full pound when he died. The tinies have no reserves to fight it. But it sounds like your pups have an URI, not necessarily pneumonia, keep taking them to the vet until they are all clear, you do not want pnuemonia. |

| I also think its URI Thanks for the advice I also think its a URI I just hate this because it takes for ever to cure and constant dedicated time to make these little ones better. |

| My little Chewy died from pnuemonia. Make sure that you keep a very close eye on her and keep him having regular checkups with the vet especially if things dont seem right.

| My Boxer and Piper both had an URI about a month ago. Scared the crap out of me. After several vet visits and meds they both are fine. After getting the news that I lost Maxx before even bringing him home to an URI or Pnemonia I wasn't taking any chances. Surprisingly, my Chi went unscathed...Thank God!!

| treating Pnuemonia My 10 week old 2lb yorkie has been diagnosed with Pnue. She is on antiboitics since tuesday and cough med. We are also putting her under a humidifier 2x a day. She was feeling better yesterday and i think she might have just overdone it. She is breathing hard short breaths now with not alot of energy. She has an appointment for follow up tomorrow. Does anyone know how long this holds on to a pup? On meds? She has mucous coming from her nose when she sneezes and I pat her lungs to break all the junk up. OMG I so don't want to lose her..does anyone have anthing to say to help? |

| If the antibiotic hasn't helped her within 24-48 hours it may be the wrong one. What is she taking? If she's having trouble breathing get her back to a vet immediately. They can nebulize meds and oxygen. Is she eating? Give her some Nutrical every few hours and keep her warm. Mine was on wrong ab and was put on doxycyline and nebulized with Gentamycin and got better. Very bad disease. Mine took the ab's for 30 days and had recheck xrays to be sure it was gone. But he began eating within 24 hours of getting the right meds. Pneumonia is not to be fooled with very serious and deadly disease.
