| newest addition to the family Just got him yesterday.. a little over 3 mo. old. He's a very quiet puppy, only heard him bark once or twice since I got him. Doesn't have a name yet. It's friendly towards everyone that enters the house. Needs to start peeing on the Wee Wee Pads or else! Likes to sleep in the corner of my bed.. his favorite sleeping area.. actually he seems to like corners in general. Seems like he adjusted very well to the new environment and doesn't have any trouble eating. Doesn't seem to like Nutri Stat at all.. I have to open his mouth and force an inch in there sometimes. Any potty training tips? | Adorable guy He is darling... You know...Karo syrup is good to use also...my vet recommended that and my poodle I had in the past use to love it as a puppy. My Sophie loves her nutrical..but then her Breeder believed in it for the extra vitamins in it too...so its easy to give her... Enjoy your new baby! Thanks for the pics...

| We have decided on the name Lucky. Actually, my grandmother just called him Lucky right when he entered the house.. and I cant think of a name.. so Lucky it will be. If you guys have any recommendations, I'll consider changing the name since it doesn't respond to anything yet. The pup has been laying around and sleeping all day. Bleh, what a boring puppy. Is this normal for a puppy this age? The puppy was born April 6th, 2005.. so around over 3 months. I'm worried about it getting hypoglycemic. I've been checking his gums every couple hours or so. Breeder recommended me to feed it a Caesar Puppy wet dinner everyday and have dry food in its bowl 24/7. It doesn't like Nutristat so I have to go through forcing it to eat an inch of it. I just got some Artemis Osopure Holistic dry puppy food to replace the Eukanuba the breeder told me to fill the bowl up with and it's been enjoying that MUCH more than the Eukanuba. Is this the feeding pattern you guys use for your dogs? Since I'm new to this whole owning a puppy thing, I'd appreciate any type of help that'll help Lucky become a healthy dog.. and me to become a good owner. Oh yeah, it had this monstrous eye booger on it's right eye today.. it seemed as if it was blocking his whole right eye. Scary. |

| To help with the pad training, you might want to try the Housebreaking Drops made by Four Paws. I got mine at Petsmart. I used them in combination with an ex pen and both of mine were potty trained within a week. Its important not to give him free run of the whole house until he is potty trained bc its just to large an area for him to know to go back to the pad to potty. As far as the food switching... I changed from the Eukaneuba to Natural Balance, but I don't think you should switch all at once, you need to mix the new in with the old a little at a time and then totally replace the Eukaneuba. Its easier on their stomach and will prevent diahrrea or constipation. The sleeping is totally normal. Bunny is six months and she still sleeps all the time. Their bodies just wear out so easily bc they are growing. I think you are so smart to keep checking the gums. I was so paranoid with Bunny when I first got her that I would wake her up to make sure she was breathing. Even though he doesnt like the Nutristat, I would do the same thing... force feed a little now and then, especially before you go to bed. I think my vet said it will sustain them for several hours. Here are some pics of the set up I used for housebreaking. This also helped train them not to bark. If they barked while they were in the ex pan I would totally ignore them and then when they were quiet I would reward with a treat and praise and let them out to play. Also make sure you put Lucky on the pad every time he wakes up from a nap bc they will go every single time after they wake up. When he goes, make sure you praise and reward with a treat (Cheerio or BilJac work great) and then he will want to keep going on the pad bc he knows it makes you happy! I still reward Bunny when I see her go on the pad just to keep the positive reinforcment going! Good Luck! p.s. I love the name Lucky! Gramma's are so wise!

| Hello and welcome. Our pups are the same age! Shelby's birthday is April 3. Puppies (like people) come with different personalities. Your little guy just might be the quiet type. Or, he is adjusting to his new home. Either way he will perk up soon when he starts to figure things out. Setting up a space of their own (as suggested above) helps with potty training, eating, their safety and their security. We have an expen in our room with the wee pad, toys, bed and food bowls/water. During the day I gate off other areas of the house so Shelby can run and stretch a little more. Now that she is peeing less AND getting the hang of wee pads she gets a little more freedom. Shelby isn't a big eater but she gets kibble in her bowl all day plus I give her Natural Balance. The ONLY food she loves is the NB roll. Good luck and have fun! |

| oops. forgot. for the eye booger. (lots of suggestions here on YT) I use cotton to wash shelby's face, then I comb out gunk with a small groomers comb. I use a soft toothbrush on her face for a brush. |
