| Sophie's vet visit Well last night we took Sophie to the vet because she kept scratching her nose and she had started to lose the hair around her nose. The doctor looked at it and said it looked like some kind of allergy to him. He seems to think it could be her plastic bowl she ate from. Who knew? He said that it looked like a contact allergy because she wasn't showing any other symptoms. He gave her an allergy shot and some ointment. He told me to change her bowls to stainless steel so we stopped on the way home and got her some. When I gave her her food this morning she was afraid of the new bowl. She is such a silly spoiled little girl. She finally realized the bowl wasn't going to hurt her and she finished her breakfast. I think it is funny that she notices stuff like that. Most dogs will eat out of anything but not Sophie. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | oh yes - that CAN happen - Plastic - porcelain and other bowls can cause allergies - Stainless Steel is the best for them - good VET !! I hope her hair grows back fast and in the meantime - you can kiss it better for her ....How totally CUTE that she was scared of her bowl !! They're so funny |

| I knew that plastic wasn't the best option, but I had no idea that it could actually cause allergies. Thanks for letting us know. And hope Sophie nose heals fast.

| And that's what this says: Consider the possibility of contact allergies. Some dogs are allergic to bedding (cedar wood chips and wool are two possible offenders), grass, or plastic food bowls. If your dog has acne on his chin and uses a plastic feeding bowl, consider switching to a steel, glass or ceramic feeding bowl. http://www.ehow.com/how_18578_care-dog-has.html |
