| My new baby girl and some ?'s Hi I'm new to the forum and thought I would share a pic of my Ginger. I just got her last night. She is 5 months and weighs 3lbs. This is my first Yorkie and I have a few questions about her. First of all...when she's in the house she doesn't want to play or anything. Not even with our other dog. Outside she is totally different. But what worries me is she sleeps ALL the time inside. Is this normal? And until about 30 min ago, I couldnt get her to eat anything. Is this maybe because she is adjusting to her new surroundings? Thanks for any input. Here is a pic of my girl: http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...782/ginger.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...82/ginger2.jpg |

| Welcome to YT - Glad you found us. Ginger is an absolute doll! Are you her 1st home? Or was she with her momma up until now? I'm just curious about her previous surroundings and her routine there - it may help explain her behavior. I would think the food thing may have to do with how comfortable & acclimated she is to her new surroundings. She must have been hungry if she decided to eat. Others may have more ideas for you.

| She is adorable!! She's probably not eating because she is just getting used to her new surroundings. Try giving her a tiny bit of cottage cheese or boiled chicken and see if she will eat that. As for playing, I bet she will be playing once she settles in a bit. She's a cutie!

| Welcome to YT! Your baby is so cute... And indeed just a baby. Considering you've only had her for one night, you have to allow her some time to adjust to her new place. She is still a baby and yes, they sleep a bit at that age. Are you feeding her the same food that she's been eating? If not, that could be why she wasnt eating...

| Yes she is still adjusting. My 7 month old who I brought home Oct. 1st was just like that 5 days or so. I thought there was something wrong with him, it was like he was depressed. He is a spitfire now! MrsStraty |

| Thanks so much for all the replies. Today Ginger seems to be coming out of her shell. She has been getting a little more fiesty indoors. She actually went up to our miniature dachshund and stole his raw hide right out of his mouth! She is also trying to play with him a bit more. They have been wrestling with each other quite a bit this morning |
