Yup yup, bettyeanne! The funny thing is, you love your Yorkie more each and every day. Ask a friend that comes over every month or so, and they will tell you how fast Toto is growing. The first year and a half is really fast! Then, they pretty much stop growing. At least in Yoda's case, unless we feed him too much! Try to take as many pictures as you can!

You can really tell she's grown by the length of her coat. She's beautiful. She looks like a show dog! Have you trimmed her hair at all? I still have locks of Otis's hair that I saved when he was a puppy. (No, not for cloning! Just for sentimental reasons.) His hair used to be so black, and he's turning grey.

Hrmm, that's a good idea Junebug! Saving locks of hair. I think too late for us now, but Yoda's pretty dark on his back area, just his face and paws are really blonde. We talk to Yoda all the time, and ANYONE that doesn't know us (or maybe don't have a dog) look at us like we're crazy. Yoda really does understand, I think we're just too stupid to comprehend what he's saying to us, though I can usually figure out when he wants to play at least.

The only parts of her coat that our groomer trims is the upper 1/3 of her ears, between the pads on her feet, rounds the paws and trims her rear [to try to keep her poop out of the hair]. We are waiting until she finishes "growing her coat" before we decide how we will have her groomed. Our breeder told us that the ears need to be kept trimmed because if the hair grows long it will pull down on her ears and keeping her foot pads trimmed keeps her from sliding on slick surfaces and avoiding possible injury to her little knees. My husband usually takes her to be groomed and sits with her while it's done ... we don't like her out of our sight and she doesn't like it if one of us isn't around her all the time! We hope she stays the color she is but she is beginning to show signs that it may change as she gets older ... like it really matters to us ... we don't care if she turns purple and weighs 50 lbs!!! We are so foolish about her it's sickening!!!

Aww, that's sweet. I always wondered what the groomers do for our little guys. Are they gentle? How do they hold Toto down while using the clipper?
