Default Philadelphia Yorkie Meet-up?

I am a member of meetup.com, but the current Yorkie meet-up location is near Landsdale, which is at least 25 minutes out of the city. I was just wondering if there are any other Yorkie parents out there who might be interested in setting up a meet-up at one of the parks in the city? Let me know, I would love to make it happen!

I am part of the Yorkie Meetup, the last meetup was at a pet store out near Blue Bell. The few of us that were there discussed possible meetup locations in and around the city. Since none of us actually lived in the city, we are not familiar with the parks, cafes, pet boutiques, etc. where you can bring dogs. We would LOVE to get suggestions to make it a true "Philadelphia Yorkshire Terrier Meetup Group". All of us that were in attendence are willing to drive anywhere in and around the city for a meetup. The next meetup is scheduled for Oct. 28 at the same place as the previous for the Halloween Parade, but the November and future ones are still open. Also if you would like to volunteer your residence, we can all bring something to eat.

Dog parks or just parks in general? I regularly visit parks, but not dog parks so I'm not familar with those.

Some good parks:

Washington Square (probably the best IMO as it's just as large as the others but not as busy as Rittenhouse)

Rittenhouse Square (very nice but always very very busy)

Franklin Square

Some dog boutiques:
http://doggiestyle2.com/
http://www.bonejourpetsupply.com/

(both of these are relatively close to Washington Square and Franklin Square. Doggie Style has a store close to Rittenhouse)

There are a few more but the names are escaping me. I know there is one in the art museum area but I can't remember the name.

I'm sure luv_my_yorkies and others might have some other suggestions.

Let me know if you have any other questions, comments, and/or suggestions.

Do you have a link for the Philly Meet up Group?

The date for the next meetup has to be changed but all the info is there.
The ideal location for a meetup is a place where its possible for the dogs to be off leash and safe. If that can't be found, we can all just keep them on leash in plain view. At the last meetup Chip really enjoyed being able to wrestle with a new friend, and I didn't have to worry about him getting out.

Hi! I live in the NE.

I would be interested in a Meetup that is closer and in the city.

All ways open for location suggestions, please post if you have one in mind. With winter coming up, an indoor place would be ideal.

Well since this is going NO WHERE (with the meet-up group-thing)...

If the original poster or any other Philadelphia residents would like to PM me I'm sure Britney and Brooklyn would love to meet your dogs! We are also at the parks but rarely come across other yorkies or small dogs.

I live very close and/or walkable distances to several of the center city-area parks. It'd be great to meet in the next month or two before it gets to cold out!

Bubbl..have you ever been to Doggie World Day care?
http://www.doggieworld.net

It's in Northern Liberties. They have an indoor facility but it does't show pics of it online, and it doesn't say if they have a small dog only section. I forwarded this site for the group organizer to look into, but I don't think she got the chance yet.

No, I haven't. I googled it though, and it got either really good and really bad reviews.

hmm....I checked out the two pet boutiques you listed previously, and it looks kinda tight to have a meetup with yorkies running around. Guess I'll keep my eyes open for any possible locations.

I am pretty sure Doggie World Day Care is all closed and boarded up. My husband has one of his properties in that area (Northern Liberties) and I saw the space one day...got excited, looked it up online...only to look inside the building and see absolutely NO signs of life Looks like it has been closed for some time.
