I believe Stacy (Sylvan) is working on something in the E. PA area, I'm sure she'll let us know when she works something out!

After making a kazillion phone calls....I have one more hope for what I was thinking. As much as I would love to have you all here at the house..if it rains(which it seems to be doing daily this summer) we are sunk, because there is no way I can fit more than a handful of people in the house at a time. Trust me on this one...lol....or ask anyone who's been here..
So....what I am trying to do is make arrangements with a local nursing home that has convenient access to host us. Many of them have liability issues that we can't bypass, but there is a smaller one, that I have visited before, that may be a possibility. I thought it would be a nice thing to brighten some of the senior's day with a pile of cute yorks...and get us under roof in case of bad weather. Waiting to hear back again from the social director, so fingers crossed everybody.

Also, just a note...the Del Val Specialty is at the Sheraton in Reading in August. If you haven't ever been to one, this is a site to see. Some of the very best of the best yorks in the country will be there. You can grab details through the www.ytca.org site.

WE'RE IN!!! The social director has approved our 'visit' for Sunday July 23rd 1:30pm. They have an afternoon church service at 3pm so our time will be a bit short, if we don't get enough chit chat in while we're there, there is a playground across the street if it's nice (bring a folding chair)or we can hit the Parkway right up the road and if it's not there is a Petco we can invade right across the way at the South Mall. ....

She does have some open times in August if this is a bad date for the majority..but I have to tell her asap (and August is not so good for me)so let me know what you all think...and who's coming so I can get a head count.
I will also be collecting donations for the Saveayorkierescue if anyone wants to bring stuff they've outgrown or blankets, bedding etc and of course $ is always appreciated.

Location-Devon House 1930 Bevin Dr, Allentown, 18103 (mapquest for general directions) from Rt 309 take Lehigh St west
past McDonald's (on right)
past main entrance to South Mall (on right)
Turn right at next light at the top of the hill just before Perkins and make an immediate left behind the Perkins. Continue around right curve to stop sign. Devon House is on left just past the stop.

We couldn't get a little closer to Scranton? Thats 3 hours if I don't get lost, to which I am definately prone.

Well, I am not sure that I can make that date, so we will see. It does sound like fun though.

No, I mean that it is about 3 hours from where I live. Scranton is about an hour or so, Allentown is a haul from here, or always feels like it. Have not made the trip in years, but remember that it seemed forever!

Talking Wow

Hey Stacy,

I just read your efforts in getting a "meet up" set at a local nursing home.....I have to say, that you are quite the special person. I wish that I were closer and I would come....even though I don't have a yorkie yet! A trip 2-3 hours is nothing....of course......I travel all the time with my job.....and I would just hop in my car and come and see everyone. Plus, I love "older" people.....always have......

When I was a little girl, I used to walk two streets down and go sit on the front porch of this elderly man that had lost his wife.....I was about 10, and we would just sit on his front porch and talk......and he would give me those pink nasty mints.....you know which one...they smell like pepto bismol.......of course, things are quite a lot different.....but, I still love to visit with older friends....that are sometimes lonely and forgotten...

You are such a sensitive caring person.....and to all that attend this event......it will be very rewarding to you and your little yorkie.

I hope you get a bunch of interest.
