| Mouse 2005 - 2007 Hello, I am new to this forum but I came to it because two days ago I lost my Yorkie. I am really struggling with this loss as she was only 2 years and 8 days old. I'm sorry to make this my first post but I am devastated and just need someone to talk to. Her name was Mighty Mouse and she was my first Yorkie. I have never had a more wonderful dog in all my life. She was amazing! However, I felt I should go on-line and post what happened as a warning to new Yorkie owners or owners of small dogs. I have had other small dogs but nothing like this has ever happened. My other dogs all lived long lives. Mouse's death was so stupid and could have been avoided. It's one of those things that until it happened I didn't realize how many things I ignored that could have been a potential risk. I was at a friend's house that I have visited many times before. Mouse always runs around and I never have to worry about her because she stays close. On this evening we were standing around talking and then we walked into the house through the garage. As we walked in he hit the button for the garage door. Normally Mouse follows me without question but I guess this time something caught her eye or she had to potty - we have no idea - but the result was she was crushed by the garage door. There was nothing the emergency vet hospital could do. There are no words to describe what we experienced. My friend feels terrible because his house is older and the garage door opener doesn't have a sensor. That is why it didn't go back up. I do NOT blame him at all. My point of writing is to remind us all how easy these little dogs can be hurt. I know I shouldn't but I feel terribly guilty and I blame myself. It never even occurred to me this would happen. I had expected to have Mouse with me for many years. I try to tell myself that regardless it was Mouse's day to go. Why else would she be taken from me so soon? She left behind so many wonderful memories and gifts - she taught me to be myself, love unconditionally and enjoy life no matter how small the adventure! She will be missed but she will always be apart of me. Thank you for listening. Sincerely, Mouse's Mom |

| I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for posting here. Maybe it will help to prevent injury or death to another beloved pet. Honestly, I wouldn't have thought about it either. Prayers going out for you, your family and your friend. R.I.P. little Mighty Mouse.

| I'm so terribly sorry for you! I know you must in in such exquisite pain over this, but as they say, accidents DO happen. And you just can't think of EVERY single thing that could possibly happen. It's always a reminder to us though, b/c I know Max usually stays close to me too, but you just never know when something will catch their eye and us, expecting them to be right behind us, are taken by surprise. My heart really goes out to you in this sad time. I hope you will be able soon to think of all the wonderful times you and Mouse had together and smile when you think of her instead of crying. Maybe someday you'll give another sweet Yorkie a loving home again. You are welcome here anytime, I'm just sorry that it's not on a happier note right now!

| I am so terribly sorry for your heartbreaking loss. I wish I could welcome you under happier circumstances but you are welcome here regardless of the reason. Things do happen that we cannot change nor understand but perhaps your little Mighty Mouse's purpose was to "teach you to be yourself, love unconditionally and enjoy life no matter how small the adventure!" What an importand and loving mission and I can tell that he did it well. God bless you and comfort you and your friend. I am so happy that you found your way here.

| Thank you for posting about Mouse. It's just one more thing, unfortunately, that we need to be aware of. I hope your pain lessens even though you will never forget Mouse and, of course, wouldn't want to forget her. I'm sorry you had to go thru this.
