| My poor baby..tragically gone..so soon I don't know how to begin to heal so maybe writing this will help get it out A little background...6 yrs ago, I bought the most precious puppy...a little boy coco who stole my heart from day one.,for the next two years he lived with me at college, regularly visiting my family and becoming the love of all of our lives. I studied abroad and left him behind so he bonded unconditionally with my family even more. last April, we bred him with my boyfriends yorkie and had 4 beautiful pups! We kept one, another went with a family member and the other two with local families. We moved out About a year ago (10 minutes from our parents) and we brought our two dogs with us, coco the daddy, and Gino our baby! Once a week our pups would travel back and forth for a day or two between our place and my parents as we would laugh that we "shared custody" they were "daddy & Nona" to little coco, and Gino was their grand baby. Here's where my life got turned upside down... My bf picked them up after spending a night with my parents...driving back to our place on a beautiful fall day the windows were down and they were loving the wind in their face. Little gino jumped to the back seat as he liked to "hang" back there...and coco (the daddy) was eating in the passenger side(I created that in the car while driving back & forth from college) ...Just as my bf turned into our development, Coco leaped across to my bf's lap and stuck his head out the window ..one wrong turn around the corner and a mis balance of his little tiny feet, and my poor baby fell out the window. Just like that, my poor baby is gone. 6 years old, so full of life...so much more life to live, so much more love to give and he's gone. My family and I are devastated, I'm crushed beyond belief. I'm sad, I'm bitter and mostly so full of Anger. I'm angry at my bf who I also feel sorry for because I know he is grieving and he is dealing with a different kind of pain ...I'm angry at certain people in my life who don't get the magnitude of my loss..and who have disappointed me in a time pain and greif. I'm angry at myself for not letting coco and Gino stay at my parents one more night or for letting them go there the night before...I'm feeling angry at everyone in my life besides my immediate family. My world is crushed, my baby, my dog, my child (which is what I thought of him) is gone...a senseless irresponsible accident and just like that ..gone. I thought this day would come much later in life, a day where he grew old and tired and his time was up...I thought I'd have children of my own by that time to lessen the greif but no, this happened only 6 short years into his life... My best buddy, my little boy...how mommy misses and loves you so much I am beginning to look for a new puppy, not a replacement bc he can never be replaced...but a distraction and a reason of hope. I still have my baby Gino and I thank God for him, because Coco will live on in him but he also constantly brings tears to my eyes as I am so reminded of him in everything he does. If anyone knows of any local breeders in the tri-state area or even just outside please let me know...I want to find the right baby and I want to give them all the love I have to give.... |

| I am so very sorry for your loss...thank you for taking the time to make this gut wrenching post....I am sure it was very painful and I hope it helped you with some for of closure.....but your tragedy and then you posting the circumstance, will help many, many more people that read this....they will tralize how important it is to keep your baboes secured safely in your vehicle, rather than allowing them to run all around the inside of the car....a sudden move, turn, or a car wreck, and you have lost your baby. PLRASE people, keep your babies secured inside your vehicle!! Keep them either in a carrier, or strapped securely with a harness restraint system in a car seat designed to keep your pup safe!!! |

I can only imagine the level of your suffering due to this tragedy. I can tell you are hurting badly but posting this story WILL help other little Yorkies as many doglovers will read this and take it as a lesson. I know it hurt to post this and pour out your heart but getting it out in writing and talking about the circumstances of the tragedy, the pain and all your feelings does really help somehow. Hopefully in time the pain will begin to lessen and the acute horror pass, allowing you to begin to heal. It takes a long time to get somewhat past really awful things like this so you can function better and it does change one forever. You never forget and the love for your special little one stays in your heart for a lifetime. But speaking out as you did is the best way to help yourself and others and that should warm your heart a little as likely many will change their ways of traveling in cars with their dogs unsecured after reading this. We have to be so careful of these little ones and be sure they are belted in, protected and safe just as we are. My heart just goes out to you. I'll be praying that your healing begins soon and in time you can open your heart again. God bless.

| Try to remember that the last thing your boyfriend wanted to happen was for your pup to die in that manner, yes he was reckless and I don't blame you for being upset, angry and hurt, but in the end it was an accident even though it shouldn't have happened. If you want I will say "what kind of stupid arsehole is so stupid to not safely secure such little dogs"...I will and I agree with you, but obviously he didn't know better because the last thing he wanted was for that to happen. As for your grieving take all the time you need and do it your way...if anyone has anything to say, walk away...you have a right to these feelings and to the time it takes to work them out. Some people don't understand the level of attachment to a dear sweet pet...but I do. I'm sure they are probably trying to say things to help but really they are just hurting you more by saying stupid things... My son had a service dog (Navy) he worked on ships, he sat, he was trained like a human....but one day his girlfriend was playing fetch the ball with him...had him all wound up without commands....she meant well....but she threw the ball and it went toward the main road and this poor pup was killed....stupidly and recklessly, but she didn't mean for it to happen...he was so upset and working through the various emotions...and some folks told him "Jay its a dog cut her some slack she didn't mean it etc".....he was trying so hard to forget and forgive but the more people said things...and tried to help the worse he felt...my kids are like me, they love a 100%, animal or human we give all.... So I do know how you feel and I truly hope you take the time you need for you...this was your baby and you deserve atleast the peace to grieve for him in your own way... I'm so sorry this has happened to your baby and for you...the bad mind movies will soon give way to happy memories, I promise.

| I am very very sorry for your loss and may Gino RIP. I hope that in the future you will consider a car seat or harness strap in for the seat belts. With a puppy it is much easier to keep them safe and start the habit right away so they don;t know any other way. Then you can ensure this accident never happens again. Wishing you prayers for healing and your bf as well.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I am so sorry for your loss. I am so glad you shared your story so that other owners would learn from this horrible tragedy. I do have a question, do both you and your BF drive with your pups loose in the car?
