| Aww, that's awesome he lived that long. I wish all my doggies lived as long. Am I the only one that noticed that the previous record was held by a 28 year old beagle? So, if you're the record holder of something and you die, animal or human, do you lose your title? This dog was 26 and 9 months yet they said the previous record holder was 28? (just curious)

| He sure is an angel to live that long. I would of given anything to have my dear Keally live that long. I wonder what they fed him but also he probably came from good genes. Thanks for sharing this story. Susan |

| I think it's the record for the oldest dog alive (at the time). So when one dies, another takes its place. I hope my dogs live that long It looks like he had a good life and a loving family.

| ^^^That's what I was thinking too. I thinks there's something special in the water in Japan. LOL The people over there live for a really long time too. Much higher average than the US.

| How great for him and his owners and I can only imagine the grief they feel now. I only wish my sweet little Heidi could have been with me that long. I miss her so and was so blessed to have had her for 17 years 11 mos. Last edited by anniernc; 12-07-2011 at 09:27 PM. |

| It is not the water, it is the diet that affects the longevity of the people there. They eat a lot of fish and don't use a lot of oil in their cooking. The dog looked so good for a 26 year old. He probably ate a lot of sushi since he lives in Japan . Another dog I heard that lived a long time was actually vegetarian. Not sure if this was the dog they talked about.
