YT Addict | An odd request Hello everyone. Recently my friend's dog died. Normally, if trhis happened I would give them a copy of the rainbow bridge to read. However, my friend is an atheist, and the rainbow bridge talks about heaven... and I don't want to offend them. Do any of you know of any poems that don't have a religious connotation? Thank you for your help.

| My little girl, Annie, is 17 and "it's time". We have an appointment on Friday and I'm heartbroken about it. I found the following poem online. I'm not sure who wrote it, but it touched my heart. I hope it helps your friend. If it should be that I grow weak, And pain should keep me from my sleep, Then you must do what must be done, For this last battle can't be won. You will be sad I understand, Don't let your grief control your hand, For this day more than all the rest, Your love for me must stand the test. We've had so many happy years, What is to come can hold no fears, You'd not want me to suffer so, The time has come, please let me go. Take me where my needs they'll tend, And please stay with me until the end, Hold me firm & speak to me, Until my eyes no longer see. I know in time that you will see, The kindness that you do for me, Although my tail its last has waved, From pain and suffering I've been saved

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | yorkieladynh - that was beautiful I always loved this - it can apply to humans and pets.....I tried to keep this in my head when my husband died.... Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there, I do not sleep; I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow; I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush; I am the swift uplifting rush; of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die. ** Author Unknown ** |

Thor's Human Donating Member | This is more about losing people, but I found this very touching: I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love, For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting. Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought: So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing. Whisper of running streams, and winter lightning. The wild thyme unseen and the wild strawberry, The laughter in the garden, echoed ecstasy Not lost, but requiring, pointing to the agony Of death and birth. (TS Elliot)

Thor's Human Donating Member | This is from "The Prophet" Your joy is your sorrow unmasked. And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears. And how else can it be? The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that hold your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven? And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives? When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. Some of you say, "Joy is greater than sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater." But I say unto you, they are inseparable. Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

| All of the poems here are so very touching. I am so sorry for Yorkieladynh who is going to have to face one of the hardest things in her life, and that is letting her little baby go. Please know that my prayers are with you and your little one. Take care.

| Cutie Emmy...Please tell your friend how sorry I am to hear of the loss of her little one. Losing a pet is one of the saddest things we can go through.
