| R.I.P our gentle Ben xxx My mum called me this afternoon to break the sad news that she had to have our beloved golden retriever, Ben, put to sleep (I say 'our' because when we got Ben as a puppy I was just 12 years old and living at home, and I saw him almost everyday since) This morning Mum rushed Ben to the vets after he had, what she thought, was a seizure. He had in fact had a stroke and was unable to do any more than lift his head and whimper softly. In recent months Ben has had a cancerous growth removed, lost the sight in one eye, and has problems with his joints. Mum made the agonising decision to have Ben put to sleep. He was 17. She says she feels incredibly guilty that she let him go, but in her heart knows it was the kindest thing for him. I just wanted to share our love for this wonderful companion with all my YT friends and to say: play happily at rainbow bridge Ben, my friend, until we meet again. xxx xxx

| RIP Ben. Your mom is correct in knowing that she did the kindest thing for him. It will, however, be awhile before she accepts that. It is natural. Hugs to your entire family. The Rainbow Bridge is a wonderful playground.

| I'm so sorry for your loss. It doesn't matter what the circumstances are or how old they are, it hurts so bad to lose one of our furbabies. I pray that God gives your family peace in knowing Ben is completely well now.
