| Therapy Yorkie My little Gidget was a therapy dog and little did I know she would be put to the test. My husband had end-stage dementia and Gidget was his at-home hospital bed companion for 18 months. Right before he passed, she snuggled up next to his feet and refused to move. Within months she grieved herself to death. Although blind and deaf, she was pretty healthy for a dog that was almost 15. One day her little heart just gave out and that's the day my life again became unbearably sad. Gidget was a birthday present that my precious husband had purchased for me and ironically and sadly I lost both of them in the same year. When she passed she was only 2 lbs and had lost almost a full pound. I now have a puppy Abby that is nothing like Gidget (which is a good thing). Kathy |

| Thank you all for your support and kind words. Unless people are honored to have a yorkie as a pet they will never know the contentment(sp?) they bring. It seems like they know what you are feeling at all times and share in your ups and downs. I know I've found a message board home here. |

| I'm so so sorry for your loss. Sometimes we do not realize how much our babies love us. She loved her daddy so much and she's where she wanted to be...with him. Gosshh your story brought tears to my eyes. ((hugs)) So glad you have Abby now. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | So grateful that you found YT, we're all here for you. I am so sorry for your losses. You're right about Yorkies, they do sense what we're feeling. My Misty was like that, she always had to be right with me or my girls if anyone was under the weather. God bless you and your little Abby

Therapy Dog Donating Member | From one therapy doggie to another...rest in peace sweet baby Gidget you will be missed by your mommy for sure. So sorry to hear about the passing of both your husband and your friend and companion, Gidget. But very happy that you have found YT and have a new baby to love. Welcome to YT Kathy and Abby. Perhaps in time you will want Abby to continue in Gidget's pawprints as a therapy doggie.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | What a sad but touching story. Thanks for sharing it with us. If my guy could ever bring such comfort to another, I would consider his life well spent.
