| Tribute to Roxie Roxie was not here on Earth for very long - just 6 days. She was born by c-section and struggled form the beginning. We had to give her 2 injections under her tongue upon being born to get her going. Then she never sucked like a newborn should, so I had to hand feed her. We started with a bottle and using a dropper, but the bottle was even hard for her due to her weak condition. I then read up on a lot of material, asked breeders a ton of questions and went to tube feeding her. That helped and we did it! Every 2 hours she was feed. She hated the tube though and would cry. I did not mind that I could not do anything else but watch the clock, feed her, and then clean up the feeding stuff, because I was so attached to her. She had this inner strenght that wa unbelievable. I called her Rocky - becasue of her strength. I brought her into this world and wanted to do everything I could to save her. I kept trying to place her on her mom n hopes that she would latch on, but that was not to be. On her 6th day she turned for the worse and lost more weight and got so dehydrated. She died later that day. I will miss you Roxie - love you girl! We had a lot of hope for you, but they needed you more in heaven and now you feel no more pain. We will miss you forever. You will always be in our hearts! ********************************************** This is a message for those that decide they want to breed and know nothing about it. Breeding is so hard, especially when you loose one. It is not for the weak and things happen. I could have also lost the mom too, if I had listened to the Emergency-vet (Gainesville, GA.) I took her to first when she stopped contractions. He told me to just go back home (25 min) away and wait it out and only check on her once every hour only. Luckily I got a hold of our regular vet as soon as I left the emergency vet and he had to do a c-section. If you have a per yorkie - enjoy them for being your pet and beware if you decide to breed. Things can happen and go wrong an a split second. T. |

| I wanted to breed Roxy so much, but because of what I learned here on YT, I knew I didn't have enough training and if anything went wrong - I wouldn't be able to handle it. So, instead of risking the lives of Roxy or her babies, I had her spayed. I cry everytime a little one is lost on YT. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Roxie. Spread your tiny wings, Little One, and fly into the wind.

| I am so sorry for your loss. Being a breeder you had the insight to go to the vet and not go home and wait it out like the ER vet suggested. Thank heavens you followed your instint. I have no idea how you breeder's let your babies leave when it's time I can't ever imagine losing a precious little one that you helped give life too. Again, I am so sorry. |

| I wish I could have been there... Tina....I still feel so bad for you with this little girl, I wish I weren't out of town for this big delivery. You are so smart with all the issues and getting Mom and babies the best care. I am so proud of you! RIP little Roxie. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I'm so sorry you lost your baby. It is even harder when you fight to keep them going.... It is hard to determine what females are good for breeding. I know our Chelsey stayed around 4.3 lbs and was so tiny around the middle we had her spayed. You just never know. I pray your mom is OK and stays healthy.

Thank you everyone. I am just now coming to terms that this happened, but still cannot look back at her pictures without crying. Mama is doing great and is and was healthy. There are many reasons this can happen. The reason she was not able to have these pups on her own, was that this girl was coming down the canal tilted her head into the other horn causing what they call a "traffic jam." This then caused the other pup not to be able to move out. I then wasted time by going to the emergency vet and him telling me not to do anything, but go home and wait. Luckily I was able to get a hold of my regular vet and he told me to come right in. I was lucky and trusted my instinct that going home was not an option. They did a c-section right as soon as I got there, but was 30 minutes drive to get there from the emergency clinic. Shirley knows the whole story since I contacted her and she contacted me as this was all playng out. My mama is 5 pounds and just had the 2 girls (3 oz and 5 oz at birth). Not large at all for pups. These things just happen. It can also happen to even larger yorkies. Reason - if you have a pet to just have them spayed. But this girl was my champion and was bred to the number one yorkie in United Sates with great hopes for this litter. She was also exaimed and judge by my vet that he thought she could whelp just fine. The pup turning its head just happened and no way to go up and fix it or correcting it or knowing that this was going to happen. The c-section was the only way we could correct the problem. Luckily I have this beautiful girl out of the two and have great hopes for her. Here is a photo of "Tara." T. | |
